PEI native, Kelly O’Neill started her professional theatre career at the age of 8 when she was selected to appear in Anne of Green Gables - the musical, as a Child of Avonlea. Throughout her childhood, she continued her studies in musical theatre, ballet, jazz, tap, piano, singing and acting. While completing her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance at Mount Allison University, she was one of 14
performers selected after a national audition tour to appear with the Charlottetown Festival’s Young Company. After completing her music degree with a minor in mathematics, she moved to Halifax to pursue a professional career in the performing arts. She and her husband first met at the Grafton Street Dinner Theatre and they continue to share a love of music and the performing arts. Highlight productions of her theatre career include Jesus Christ Superstar and Gypsy with Neptune Theatre, Nunsense and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Festival Antigonish, as well as starring in Anne with Theatre New Brunswick. After a successful career in performance, Kelly returned to university to complete her Bachelor of Education at Acadia University. During her final year of teacher training, she was selected to complete a 4-month teaching practicum in Shanghai, China. After an incredible life-changing traveling experience, Kelly returned home and has been teaching junior high music, math and French for the past 9 years. Most recently, she completed her Masters of Education in French Immersion resource with Saint Francis Xavier University. Currently, she is on leave from her permanent teaching job to be at home with her two children. When not in the classroom, on a stage or chasing kids, Kelly enjoys golf, soccer, skiing, live music and theatre, biking, traveling and local adventures with her husband and two children. Kelly is bilingual, a high-achiever, energetic, open, honest and passionate about quality teaching. She is committed to her students and ensuring that their musical interests remain in the forefront. She is thrilled to be combining her passion for music and teaching and to offer convenient in-home music lessons to busy families who share a love of music and the arts.
