Last week the preschoolers in the Daisy Room went on a big adventure! They hopped on the bus, rode downtown and then walked to the big ol “ferry boat” terminal! They went across the harbour to explore a new playground and have a picnic lunch! The children were so excited to see the different boats, hear the seagulls and feel the breeze as they sat on the ferry and enjoyed the view. They spent many quiet moments listening and feeling our new surroundings. The most exciting part may have been when the captain blew the fog horn for them! They felt pretty special! ⛴️

We are so proud of our Daisy friends for working up to this big trip (which was planned by them) after many successful smaller adventures! We cannot wait to see what their last few adventures can be before their big graduation day!!🌼🌼

The preschoolers in the Dragonfly class enjoyed a community adventure to the local duck pond, where they took turns feeding the ducks and observing them as they swam. Through open-ended conversations, the children explored what ducks eat, where they live, and where they go during the colder months, encouraging curiosity, language development, and critical thinking.

The ducks' playful "dances" brought lots of laughter and smiles, fostering a sense of wonder and connection to nature. Along the walk, the children also made real-life connections by observing the houses and community around them. It was a wonderful day of exploration, discovery, and meaningful learning beyond the classroom. And of course they had to stop at their favourite park! 🦆🛝

Today’s Fun Activity: Popsicle Painting! 🧜‍♀️🎨

The toddlers in the Mermaid class had a blast doing popsicle painting! All the kids were so excited to watch the vibrant colors mix across their paper. They loved feeling the cool ice and exploring the new textures while creating their masterpieces! ✨ Ice-cold fun and big smiles all around!

The toddlers in the Jellyfish Class enjoyed a hands-on sensory and fine motor experience! Using pool noodles and pipe cleaners, the children practiced their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as they carefully threaded the pipe cleaners through the noodles. They also explored kinetic sand, enjoying its unique texture through sensory play. With gems and beads available to investigate, the children discovered different ways to play, including filling cups to create homemade shakers and exploring the sounds they could make. Through open-ended play, the toddlers strengthened their creativity, problem-solving skills, and sensory awareness while having fun exploring a variety of materials.

Bringing the Garden Inside for Play and Discovery 🪴🪏

Today, the infants in the Lilies room enjoyed a gardening-themed sensory activity where they explored soil, flower pots, flowers, and gardening tools. They practiced scooping, filling, and pretending to plant and water flowers, helping develop their fine motor skills, creativity, and imagination while learning about nature through play.

The Bunny class has been exploring lots of sensory experiences lately! How fun!

The infants in the Bunny class, enjoy sensory activities that encourage exploration and support the development of their fine motor skills through scooping, pouring, and transferring materials. They are engaged in using sensory materials with a variety of toys, such as buckets, and often incorporate their own bodies into their play, deepening their learning through hands-on experiences. The children also enjoy messy play, which supports their overall well-being by fostering curiosity, creativity, and confidence as they explore the world around them through touch and sensory discovery.

Today's paint party was super fun for toddlers in unicorns. 🦄 🎨
