NCC Funding Call: Rapid Research Response

As wildfire season continues to impact communities across the country, we would like to bring your attention to the open funding call for Rapid Response Research on Wildfires and other Emergencies that is being offered through the NEIHR National Collaborating Center (NCC), at the University of Saskatchewan.

The funding opportunity supports community-led rapid research projects related to the health and wellbeing impacts of the 2025 wildfire season and includes funding of up to $20,000 per project. Call for Expressions of Interest⛑️

“The Canadian Emergency Department Research Network (CEDRN) is inviting expressions of interest to join our Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC).

The IAC will guide how CEDRN engages with Indigenous Peoples and communities in emergency care research. CEDRN aims to ensure that our work respects Indigenous self-determination, cultural protocols, and data sovereignty, while promoting benefit and minimizing harm.”

Commitment: 4H per month for a 1 year term and option for renewal. Includes virtual meetings and optional gatherings.

Compensation: $40/H (plus cultural honorarium and travel compensation for gatherings)

Call for Applications: Etuaptmu’k W’loti Student (Undergraduate & Graduate) Research Awards

The Atlantic Indigenous Children’s Healing Initiative (AICH) will be offering awards to one Indigenous undergraduate, master’s and doctoral student (3 total) for the 2026/2027 academic year to contribute to our research program development, evaluation, analysis and knowledge mobilization within the Etuaptmu’k W’loti project objectives. The overall goal of this funding program is to develop Mi’kmaq/Indigenous postsecondary health research capacity.

⚠️UPDATE: Indigenous Health Research Support Fund.

This is a notice that the deadline for the Indigenous Health Research Facilitator Support Fund has been extended from Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM ADT to Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 11:59 PM ADT.

The Indigenous Health Research Facilitator Support Fund will support a new, six-month, full-time position at an ICCO in the Atlantic Region.

Goal and Objectives: The overall goal of the Indigenous Health Research Facilitator Support Fund is to strengthen Indigenous health research capacity of ICCOs in the Atlantic Region. Specifically, the objectives will enable ICCOs to: design, lead, and oversee a new full-time Indigenous Health Research Facilitator position dedicated to supporting Indigenous health research and knowledge sharing priorities. Capture and evaluate the successes and challenges of implementing the Indigenous Health Research Facilitator position.

2026 Indigenous Graduate Student Writing Retreat📝🪶

The WLN is excited to announce that we will be hosting an Indigenous graduate student writing retreat. The three-day retreat will be held between August 24-28, 2026 at the Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort in Unama’ki (Cape Breton, Nova Scotia).

The gathering will bring together Indigenous graduate students from across the Wabanaki-Labrador (Atlantic) region.

To be eligible, applicants must be: an Indigenous person either working in or from the Wabanaki-Labrador region and currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a graduate post-secondary program.
