Oh Deer! Help our Urban Gardens Hackathon

At this Hackathon, you'll work in teams to design a sustainable solution for managing deer in Halifax — then pitch it for a chance to win cash prizes.

Event details:

· Participate in hands-on training led by faculty experts and entrepreneurship professionals across two immersive days

· Work in teams to develop a sustainable, community-ready solution for the community gardens in Halifax, with mentorship and guidance throughout

· Present your team's solution in a final pitch-style competition where three winning teams each walk away with prize money.

Prizes: 1st place: $2,500 2nd place: $1,500 3rd place: $1,000

When: Kickoff: May 16, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Final Pitch: May 23, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Applications are now open for the Technology Readiness Level-Up (TRL) program, a four-month, funded commercialization experience for student innovators across Canada.
✅ $10,000 stipend
✅ Mentorship from industry + tech transfer experts
✅ Hands-on training in applied research labs
✅ National peer cohort
Open to current college, undergrad, Master’s, PhD student, or postdoc (within five years of graduation) at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or a recent graduate (within two years of graduation).
TRL is open to innovators across all sectors. This year, teams developing technologies in AI, defence or dual-use, and energy transition may also benefit from additional, sector-informed expertise within the program.

A huge congratulations to the incredible student teams from NSCC Ivany Campus and NSCC Truro Campus for their strong performances at the Atlantic Canada Regional Exposition hosted by Enactus Canada in Halifax.

This regional competition featured four major Impact Challenges, where student teams present projects that address real social, environmental, and economic issues:
• TD Entrepreneurship Challenge
• Desjardins Community Empowerment Challenge
• Canadian Tire Environmental Sustainability Challenge
• Innovation & Impact Challenge powered by Enactus Alumni Enactus Canada

NSCC Ivany Campus earned strong recognition across several challenges, including:
• Champion – TD Entrepreneurship Challenge
• Runner-Up – Desjardins Community Empowerment Challenge
• Runner-Up – Canadian Tire Environmental Sustainability Challenge
• Second Runner-Up – Innovation & Impact Challenge powered by Enactus Alumni

NSCC Truro Campus also demonstrated meaningful community impact, achieving:
