☀️ Beach Smashball 🏐

We have added 2 more slots of Beach Smashball for 10-12 year olds - Beginner and Next Level, this time at the West Bedford Courts on Tuesdays!

Looking for a fun and active way to get your kids on the sand this summer? Smashball is the perfect intro to volleyball—designed for younger athletes with modified rules, lighter balls, and tons of action (yes, including spiking! 🙌)

📅 Tuesdays, starting June 23 – August 4 (1 session/week)
📍 West Bedford Beach Volleyball Courts, West Bedford (next to Greenfoot Energy Centre)
💲 $89 + $17 recreational membership

With small courts, more touches, and a focus on fun, kids will build skills, confidence, and friendships in a positive, supportive environment.

🗓️ Registration opens June 5th at noon - players must have a recreational membership before signing up for the event. Don't wait - get the membership early to avoid missing out.

We're excited to announce five new Youth Beach Volleyball Leagues at the West Bedford Beach Volleyball Courts, starting the week of June 15!

🏐 14U Girls – Mondays, 6:00–7:30 PM
🏐 16U Girls – Mondays, 7:30–9:00 PM
🏐 18U Girls – Tuesdays, 7:30–9:00 PM
🏐 14U Girls – Thursdays, 6:00–7:30 PM
🏐 16U Girls – Thursdays, 7:30–9:00 PM

Our leagues offer athletes the chance to develop their skills, compete in fun weekly matches, and enjoy a summer on the sand with friends.

May marks Asian Heritage Month, so please join us in celebrating the contributions of people of Asian origin to the Nova Scotian volleyball community!

The theme for 2026 is "Honouring Asian Canadians: Stories that Built Canada”. This theme recognizes the essential contributions Asian Canadians have made to Canada’s social, cultural, and economic life across generations - including sport!

Help us recognize someone who has inspired you on or off the court, or who has helped build the volleyball community in Nova Scotia, and we will shout them out later this month in our stories.

We’re excited to introduce our Summer Student team for the upcoming beach season! ☀️🏐

Sierra Sarty has just completed her second year at l’Université de Moncton, where she studies kinesiology and plays volleyball. A long-time VNS athlete since 15U, Sierra has been part of the Provincial Excellence Program and competed in beach volleyball at the 2025 Canada Games. She’s excited to give back to a community that has played such a big role in her journey. Reach Sierra at [email protected]

Oliver Rutherford, a student at Université Sainte-Anne, brings years of experience with Team Nova Scotia, including representing the province at the 2022 Canada Games. Now competing at the collegiate level, Oliver values the connections and opportunities volleyball has provided and is excited to be part of the community this summer. Olivia Coakley is currently in her second year at l’Université de Moncton and has been involved with the VNS community since age 15. From participating in the Provincial Excellence Program to competing at the Canada Cup with Team Nova Scotia, Olivia continues to train and compete while pursuing her studies. This summer, she steps into the role of Beach Volleyball Coordinator and is looking forward to supporting athlete development and growing the beach volleyball community.
