Need help remembering your strings? Mnemonics are a useful tool that I use almost every day. These can include:

- acronyms
- word association
- songs/rhymes

Below is a well tested example of a mnemonic that I also use to help guitar students learn their strings.

Jimi Hendrix died 53 years ago today, on Sept 18, 1970.

Jimi was the man who really influenced me when I first started playing guitar. From his relatively easy opening melodies and chord progressions (Foxy Lady, Red House, Hey Joe), to his wicked improvisation technique (Voodoo Chile Slight Return, All Along the Watchtower, Little Wing), and that really cool Marshall stack sound, I was hooked at a young age.

Hendrix also introduced me to the blues, along with my first guitar instructor, and I've not looked back.
