MYC is the only child-centered music-learning system that integrates keyboard, creative movement, rhythm, singing, ear training, sight reading, music theory and composition. There are several MYC programs geared for specific ages, beginning with infants. Children who complete the most advanced level of MYC training are well prepared for early intermediate piano studies, or the study of another instrument. Music programs like MYC have been proven to enhance children's social development and learning skills, improve memory and problem-solving, and bolster confidence and self-esteem. The following classes are offered in Haliburton September 2012:
MUSIC PUPS: Singing, dancing, drumming, jumping, laughing, clapping, twirling, rolling, tapping, skipping, listening, shaking, crawling, whispering, clanging, giggling, strumming, bouncing, hugging, jingling, swaying, tickling, whistling, smiling, humming, clicking, marching...Music Pups is a FUN, informal music and movement program for infants and toddlers (0-2 years). SUNRISE: (non keyboard program) The Sunrise program introduces pre-schoolers to the exciting world of music through singing, rhythm and listening activities, with puppet friends guiding them in their musical journey. Children's fine motor skills, attention spans and social skills are all enhanced through this program. This program is ideal for three year olds who will begin JK the following year. CORE MYC PROGRAMS:
SUNSHINE 1 Sunshine Level 1 is a keyboard program, ideal for children to begin when they are in JK or SK at school. Sunshine includes large muscle experiences in beat and rhythms, fine motor experiences in rhythm instrument ensemble playing, singing and solfege and musical games. SUNBEAMS 1 This is a three year keyboard program. Level 1 is ideal for children to begin when they are in first or second grade at school. Sunbeams provides “big kid” lyrics to introduce concepts, finger numbers and keyboard geography. Songs and games are used to encourage and reinforce listening. MOONBEAMS 1 This keyboard program is designed for the older beginner, ages 7-9. Singing, movement, rhythm ensemble, theory, games and keyboard instruction provide an enjoyable and complete introduction to the world of music. For schedule and fee information see:
