The Bark Lake Weather Office in association with the Department for Watching Birds at Bark Lake is issuing the following Special Statement:
At 10:24am today we received our first bit of SNOW. While this snowfall event didn't result in any accumulation (it melted before hitting the ground) we are expecting more snow in the days to come.

A big thank you goes out to the OFO - Ontario Field Ornithologists for awarding us a Certificate of Appreciation!
It was our pleasure to be able to open the site up to birders to come and see the Varried Thrush. We hope to be able to do so again in the near future!

Crip, cool nights are helping to create some gorgeous fall colours. Hoping to see everyone again soon.
Keep safe and stay (physically) distant. :)
While out trying to photograph a new bird (might be a Greater Yellowlegs) I had some company.

A rainy-lazy afternoon today. The geese are out doing some lawn care.

Happy National Canoe Day! Share your favourite paddling photo with us!
With everything being a bit quiet here, the local foxes have taken to playing behind the office.

Happy Facilitator Friday!
Hey everyone! My name is Graham and I have been a Facilitator at Bark Lake off and on since the spring of 2017, while completing my BA in Sociology at Trent University. A few of my favourite things to do while at Bark Lake are swinging on the ropes course and enjoying a huge campfire on Canoe Beach! Currently I am working on the frontline as a Support Worker helping a group of individuals navigate this tricky time. Stay safe friends and know we’re all in this together!

Happy Facilitator Friday! Here’s Justin!
Hey everyone! I’ve been working at Bark Lake since the summer of 2019, and I love and appreciate the outdoors and everything it has to offer us. I’m a graduate of Fleming College’s Forestry Technician program, and I am planning on going back to take the Outdoor Adventure Education Program next fall. I have had a strong passion for canoeing and experiential learning since I was a kid, and my dream job is working in South America in the adventure tourism industry, hopefully somewhere on the water!
