Q***r Critters is a local isopod lover specializing in not only isopods and springtails, but also arts and crafts such as invertebrate pins, magnets and stickers, lino prints, sculptures, hand embroidered art, and terracotta isopod houses.

entomo-empeiria is an independent entomology educator focused on showcasing the insect diversity and ecology of southern Ontario. They will be presenting their first exhibit, "Get to Know the Insects of Ontario". Stop by to learn about the many insect groups we share our home with, and have an up-close look at some native specimens and live bugs!

Insects can provide an excellent source of protein, and the cricket flower donated to us by ALIMENTOMO gives these baked goods a surprising nutty taste!

EAT BUGS!

🐞Bring your own Bug!🐞 For those joining us at one of our pinning workshops during Guelph Bug Day, feel free to bring an insect of your own to pin!

In order to prepare your specimen, store it in your freezer until Guelph Bug Day and then allow it time to thaw before the workshop! If you have a dried specimen (i.e found a dead bug) we recommend putting it in a relaxing chamber for 24-48 hours prior to the workshop to allow it to rehydrate so that the limbs become pliable again for pinning. Relaxing chambers are easy! Just a Tupperware with a wrung out wet paper towel, just make sure that the bug isn't touching the paper towel directly! Use a sheet of parchment paper or something similar as separation to prevent mould.

If you don't have an insect to bring, that's completely okay! You can still participate in the workshops! An insect will be provided to you.

Tiny Tanks is a small isopod breeding project by JR. This project has grown from a few local species collected in the yard, to over 75 different species originating from various environments around the world. Along with collecting different isopod species, JR loves to share his knowledge about these fascinating creatures. Tiny Tanks offers a selection of isopod species and all supplies needed to keep them happy and thriving.

When they’re not drawing or crafting, they love to spend time outdoors to disconnect, explore new places and find cool bugs. She’ll have prints, stickers, patches, cross-stitched bugs and more available at Guelph Bug Day!

Isaiah Morrow and AJ San Juan of .morrow will be joining us for Guelph Bug Day!

Kruti Patel of .leelo will be joiming us for Guelph Bug Day!

Kruti Patel is a kitchener-based nature illustrator whose work is inspired by her experiences in wild places through self-guided walks exploring local landscapes and referencing research about the same. She creates detailed artworks using watercolours, gouache digital media and at times linocut printing.
When not outdoors, you can find her handcrafting illustrated stationery that literally and figuratively binds nature stories, science and art. Everything in the collection is created thoughtfully to inspire curiosity and deepen our connection to nature and to those we love dearly- while bringing beauty and purpose to the things we use everyday.
