🌊 Groundbreaking water research at the University of Guelph is helping reshape how water governance is approached in Canada.

At the request of Sipekne’katik First Nation and the Clan Mothers and Women of Oneida Nation of the Thames, Dr. Beth Parker and researchers in U of G’s College of Engineering are supporting an Indigenous-led project that braids Indigenous knowledge with innovative Western science to co-create new approaches to water management and risk assessment.

Through the Morwick G360 Groundwater Research Institute and IndigenERA Lab, the project aims to develop culturally relevant, community-led frameworks informed by advanced groundwater and surface-water monitoring technologies.

This high-impact collaboration reflects the power of interdisciplinary research, partnership, and Indigenous leadership in shaping sustainable water futures.
