Our summer OLP program begins in less than a month and we could not be more excited! The OLP educators have been hard at work this year, nurturing their own nature connection, learning about forest school philosophies, and unlearning colonial pedagogies. We are excited to offer our expanding understanding of nature-based learning and look forward to welcoming the OLP children and families soon!

Our summer OLP program begins in a few short weeks! This year, some of the OLP educators have been nurturing their own nature connection, learning more about nature school philosophies, and actively unlearning colonial pedagogical commitments. We are excited to be able to offer some of these understandings through our summer program this year, and to continue engaging in our own life long learning outdoors. Below is a fun video from a winter outdoor education conference to share some of our excitement! We can’t wait to welcome the OLP children and families soon

The Outdoor Learning Program educators were excited to participate in the conference, (Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario). Where we actively engaged in learning more about journaling, Etuaptmumk (two-eyed seeing), connecting with all our senses, holistic nature school, history of outdoor education, the time to take action is now, and so much more.
We are fortunate to have the setting to create a dry creek - a creek that dries up when we turn the water off. We have had a dry creek in previous years understanding the many ways it supports STEM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), including having a leopard frog join us one summer for the 8 weeks of program! This year, though, is the first time we've experienced the gratitude of Chickadees. We, the children and educators, were so privileged to watch the chickadees bathing in the creek, sitting close to those children up in the trees, and even landing on the hammocks.

We have see this beautiful bird of prey at the CCLC frequently these last 2 weeks. I know what it is, but I’m wondering if you do. I hope we get to see it again this week, as we start our first month of program!

Went on our biggest hike yesterday to the “frog pond.” One of our children when we walked into the clearing said “Wow! It’s so beautiful!”
