Saxophone Ensemble Open House Rehearsal

Curious about playing in a saxophone ensemble? Join us for a special open rehearsal led by Bill Rolfe, saxophone and clarinet instructor at the Guelph School of Music.
This event is perfect for saxophonists looking for an ensemble experience beyond traditional band classes. Sit in and play alongside the Guelph School of Music Sax Ensemble and explore a variety of ensemble repertoire!
Active participation is best for those with at least one year of playing experience, but all are welcome to attend and observe.

On Sunday, March 2, 3:30pm, the New Orford String Quartet will be performing on tour at St. John’s Anglican Church, Elora (36 Henderson St., Elora ON). Thanks to generous community support, admission to the concert is by freewill contribution at the door (general admission and seating).

One of Canada’s finest string quartets, featuring principal players from the Toronto and Montreal Symphony Orchestras, tours to Elora with a program including Schubert’s famous “Death and the Maiden” quartet, Mozart’s Quartet in D minor (K.421), and a new work by Canadian composer Ian Cusson — “Yume” (Dreams), inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s film of the same name.

GSM teacher Breanne Dietrich will be adjudicating for OMFA this year!
We are to welcome Breanne Dietrich to the 2025 Provincial Finals!
Virtual Adjudicator: Musical Theatre
Breanne Dietrich is a Guelph based voice teacher and performer and is on the board of directors for NATS Ontario. She specializes in training musical theatre and pop rock performers and has a passion for training and working with youth. She is on the Music Theatre Faculty at Sheridan College and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at the University of Guelph.
Breanne holds an MFA in Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory (Berklee) and a BMus in Classical Voice from Western. She has earned her Evidence-Based Vocal Pedagogy certification with Maddie Tarbox and in addition to working with her vocal students, she can be found adjudicating and guest lecturing at Ontario festivals, the NATS Vocal Showcase, universities and theatre companies.
Breanne is an active performer in the Canadian musical theatre scene and has performed numerous roles, solo concerts and cabarets in New York, Boston and Toronto. Select roles include Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins), Vivienne (Legally Blonde), Fantine (Les Miserables).
Breanne is deeply dedicated to her studio and has coached numerous students to top honours and scholarships with RCM, Kiwanis Music Festival and NATS. Having studied and performed in both Canada and the States, Breanne is aware of what is expected of an actor on stage, in a rehearsal and in an audition. Breanne provides her students with not only technical proficiency and musicianship skills, but also storytelling and acting coaching. She has had students accepted at Sheridan, NYU Tisch, Carnegie Melon and the Boston Conservatory and now they can be found working at Canadian Equity houses including Mirvish Productions, Drayton Entertainment, Neptune Theatre and Rainbow Stage.
Breanne is thrilled to be adjudicating at OMFA this year and is grateful to these talented and brave singers for sharing with her.

Guelph School of Music Camp
July 7-11, 2025: Ages 5 to 7
July 14-18, 2025: Ages 8 to 12
Led by the talented faculty of the Guelph School of Music, campers will dive into the fundamentals of music, including notation, reading music, ear training, and rhythm, through play-based learning. Participants will engage in a variety of activities, including games, crafts, and outdoor play. Daily craft activities will explore making instruments out of recycled materials. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in special workshops, including boomwhackers, drums, ukulele (ages 8-12 only), and choir. The week will culminate with a pizza party lunch on Friday and a final performance on Friday afternoon in the GYMC Recital Hall, where campers will showcase all the musical discoveries they’ve made throughout the week. No prior music experience is required – just a love for music and a willingness to explore! Every camper will receive a GYMC summer camp t-shirt on the first day of camp!
Morning drop off is between 8:30 and 9:00am with end of day pickup between 4:30 and 5:00pm. Participants must bring their own snacks and lunch each day, except Friday lunch when pizza will be provided.
