Happy National Indigenous History Month!

As we move towards contract negotiations this fall, we want to be in the strongest position possible. Showing our solidarity really does make a difference in getting a good deal with the provincial government. Our power is in our numbers.

There are a couple actions you can take right now that will help.

1. Wear Red for Ed every Friday in June! All of the other education union affiliates are doing the same - that’s historic!

2. Talk to everyone you can about the real needs in education, what we are asking for, why it is completely reasonable, and why investing in public education is so important.

3. Put up a “Together for Publicly Funded Education” Lawn sign!

You can pick up a lawn sign at the local office (370 Speedvale Ave. W, Guelph) on Tuesday, June 16th or Thursday June 18th. Lawn signs will also be available for pick up on Wednesday, June 10th from 3:30-5:00 pm in the parking lot of the Alder Street Recreation Centre. Look for Upper Grand OT vice president Andrea Aloe. He will be parked close to the entrance and will be wearing a Red for Ed shirt

UGETFO’s Status of Women Committee invites Women and Non-Binary Folk Teachers to gather with us for a Year-End High Tea filled with conversation, connection, and celebration. As we reflect on the work and achievements of this past year, we will also look ahead and begin shaping ideas and possibilities for the year to come.

This gathering is an opportunity to share inspiration, build community, and dream together about future events and initiatives.

To wrap up the evening, please bring a wrapped book you’ve enjoyed reading. Each participant will leave with a new summer read to discover and enjoy!
