Ontario education workers asked to start bargaining early this year. The OSBCU came to the table ready to negotiate all summer, because we know how badly students and workers need stability.
Minister Calandra said a deal could be reached by Labour Day. It's now clear that was never the real plan.
This government isn't focused on reaching a fair deal. It's focused on control: taking decisions away from local school boards and local unions, and centralizing power at Queen's Park. That means less local voice, less local structure, and less say for the workers and communities who know their schools best.
Local bargaining exists because one size doesn't fit all across this province. We're not backing down. 💜✊

We also extend our thanks to outgoing President, Krista Pedersen and outgoing Vice-President, Jennifer Hesch, for their service on the Leadership Team and for the time and effort they have dedicated to our Local. We wish them all the best.
