Dr Seuss Week in Kindergarten
Kindergarten had so much fun celebrating Dr. Seuss Week recently! From giggles to creativity, each day brought something wonderfully wacky into our classrooms. On Wacky Wednesday, things were delightfully mixed up—shoes found their way onto table legs and caps seemed to appear everywhere you looked! It was a joyful reminder that learning can be full of laughter and surprise.
On “There’s a Wocket in My Pocket” Thursday, students let their imaginations run wild as they created their very own silly “wockets,” exploring sounds, words, and creativity in true Dr. Seuss style.
We wrapped up the week on Friday with The Cat in the Hat Comes Back, creating bright and playful Cat in the Hat art pieces to celebrate a week filled with stories, imagination, and fun.
What a wonderful week of learning, laughter, and creativity in Kindergarten!

Have you checked out our latest Kindergarten blog posts?
As families begin enrolling their little ones for the fall, our Kindergarten team has put together some really helpful reflections and insights. This week’s focus: preparing your child for this exciting next step. (https://guelphccs.ca/kinder_blog/preparing-your-child-for-kindergarten/)
These posts offer a wonderful “voice from the classroom,” shared directly from one of our Kindergarten teachers, helping parents better understand what school readiness can look like—socially, emotionally, and practically—as children begin their Kindergarten journey.
We encourage all new and prospective families to take a look as you prepare for this important transition. It’s a great way to get a glimpse into the heart of Kindergarten at our school and feel more confident as you take those next steps. Kinder artwork
In the lead up to Easter, our Kindergarten students spent time reflecting on the Easter story through beautiful artwork, exploring the powerful truth that the Light of the World overcame the cross.
With simple, heartfelt creativity, they learnt about Jesus’ love, sacrifice, and victory—expressing these deep truths in ways that are meaningful and accessible at their age. This artwork now brightens our corridors and shines with colour, hope, and joy, reminding us of the light that shines even in the darkest moments.
It has been a special time of learning and wonder, as our youngest learners begin to understand the hope we have in Easter.

A special surprise for Kinder P!
Today brought an impromptu (and very exciting!) visit from our therapy dog, Jasper—and there were smiles all around!
The students loved learning about the important work Jasper does, helping bring comfort and calm to those around him. They asked such thoughtful questions and were especially excited to hear from his owner—our very own Mrs. Pyper!
Moments like these are such a gift, creating space for curiosity, connection, and a whole lot of joy.
Thank you, Jasper, for brightening our day!

Hosanna!
Our Kindergarten friends have been celebrating Palm Sunday by learning about Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. They created these beautiful palm leaves to remember how the people waved them in joy to welcome Him.
What a joy to see little hands exploring faith, art, and the story of Jesus together!

Our Kinder P class had a very special visit to the residents at Arbor Trails Retirement Residence this week. The students shared their chapel songs along with a few other favourites, filling the room with joyful voices, wonderful dancing and big smiles. They were excited to share not only their music, but also the message that God loves each and every one of them.
The students also made beautiful handmade cards for the residents and spent time chatting with them after their performance, and with juice and cookies. The kindness, excitement, and love our students shared brought so much joy to both the residents and the staff. It was a truly heartwarming and moving morning for everyone involved.

As March Break begins, we want to wish all our school families a restful, fun, and special week! Whether you’re enjoying time close to home or heading off on an adventure, we hope these days are filled with laughter, rest, and meaningful moments together. Safe travels to those going away—we can’t wait to hear all about your adventures when we return!
Lord, we pray that you watch over our families this week, keeping them safe, refreshed, and filled with joy wherever they may be.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24

Our Kinder Ps led chapel today as they helped us reflect on March’s Lord’s Prayer focus phrase: “As we also have forgiven our debtors.”
They began with a joyful dance to Golden Rule, reminding us that treating others the way we want to be treated helps create a community where kindness and forgiveness can grow.
Next, the students performed a delightful play called “The Angry Bee.” In the story, the bee becomes upset and struggles with anger, but learns that holding onto anger doesn’t help friendships grow. Instead, choosing forgiveness brings peace and restores relationships — a beautiful picture of what our theme this month is all about.
To close chapel, our kinders burst into an energetic performance to Forrest Frank’s Celebration… and ended by throwing confetti everywhere! The joy in the room was contagious.
We are so proud of our youngest students for leading us so thoughtfully today. A huge thank you to Mrs. Pinson and Ms. Woodcock for guiding them and helping bring this message to life.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Kindergarten families for coming out to Student-Led Conferences
It was such a joy to see our youngest learners take the lead—sharing their learning with confidence, reading to their parents, and proudly guiding them through the classroom. From pointing out favourite projects to explaining routines and discoveries, our kinders truly shone as they explored the space together with their families.
What a special reminder that even our smallest students can take big ownership of their learning. We loved every moment of it.
