Heading up to muskoka this summer? Check out these magical offerings while you are there!

I believe in hands-on teaching. As teachers we are all adapting as necessary in this new normal, but for me going online never really felt like an option. I believe the land and the plants offer more than my words alone can do. I believe now more than ever we need to connect to nature. Having cancelled my regular offerings I've opened up small group, physical distancing protocol appropriate classes based on topics voted on in my newsletter survey (thanks for your input folks!). I want to help you see the world as gift. I want you to feel empowered in your ability to tend to your own and your loved ones health. I'm looking forward to the shift to small intimate circles where we can go deeper. BIPOC folks living in Muskoka, I have 50% off spots for you so please reach out. Link in comments to offerings.

Seekers of the Wild began with the intention of providing a platform for people to connect back to the earth, to our natural roots and sense of belonging on this beautiful planet. But this simple intention is only simple in theory, because the road to deeper connection with the earth and with each other has been so badly broken by generations of colonization, systemic racism, race-based violence, genocide and ecocide.

If you think that racism and environmental destruction do not go hand in hand, think again. Ecological denigration is an act carried out by the privileged. Land development projects, airline travel, cruise ships, beach resorts, precious wetlands destroyed for cottages and waterfront homes...all of these eco-atrocities exist to serve wealthy, privileged and mostly white communities. Black, Indigenous and people of colour around the world are physically, socially, and economically exploited by these enterprises, while suffering the worst consequences of the climate crisis.

White Supremacy is not secluded to a group of deranged white men with torches and pitch forks. It is embedded in every aspect of this society. If you are a white person, then you benefit from a system designed by white people to exploit and oppress people of colour. We can allow this no longer. It is time to change. The earth cannot heal until we heal, and we cannot heal if we continue to stand for a society that systematically murders humans who do not have white skin.

Seekers of the Wild is not an anti-political platform. We have no interest in remaining silent about the deadly racism and white-supremacist mentality that has run rampant on this continent since settlers set foot here. We are committed to recognizing our privilege and complicity in the perpetuation of the oppression of BIPOC communities. We are committed to doing the work to change this. Stand up now. Do something.
