Larry has been through quite the journey over the past few weeks, and we're happy to share some encouraging news.

After being admitted to the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in late September for treatment of impaction colic, Larry faced several unexpected health challenges along the way. Thanks to the dedication of his veterinary team, he recovered from the initial colic, overcame hyperlipidemia, and received treatment for additional complications that followed. Through it all, Larry has shown the resilience and determination that so many of us have come to admire about him.

We're pleased to report that Larry was stable enough to be discharged from the hospital and return home to the Sanctuary. While he still requires ongoing monitoring and medication, we are hopeful that being back in familiar surroundings with his donkey friends will help him continue moving in the right direction.

For those who know Larry, this news is especially welcome. Admitted to the DSC in 2015, Larry quickly won hearts with his sweet personality and endless curiosity. This nosy little donkey always wants to know what's going on and is often first in line to investigate anything new.

Thank you to everyone who has been keeping Larry in your thoughts. We know he's happy to trade the hospital for the comfort of home, and we're relieved to see him settling back in with his herd.

The Ontario Veterinary College was proud to welcome the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2030, the Lapis Lynx, during the Professional Welcome Ceremony yesterday at the University of Guelph.

This longstanding OVC tradition marks students' formal entry into the veterinary profession. Receiving their blue lab coats, students joined a community united by a commitment to compassion, collaboration, lifelong learning and excellence in animal health.

Congratulations to the students who participated in OVC’s 2026 Summer Career Opportunities and Research Exploration (SCORE) program!

Throughout the summer, undergraduate and DVM students worked alongside research mentors, explored a wide range of veterinary and animal health topics and developed skills in scientific communication.

The program concluded with a three-minute presentation competition, where students shared their research with judges, faculty and peers.

From first-time researchers to returning participants, students reflected on how SCORE helped build their confidence, strengthen their communication skills and introduce them to new possibilities in research.

Yesterday, we proudly welcomed the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2030 to OVC with a day focused on teamwork, communication, and community-building.

Students challenged themselves on the climbing wall, worked together on the water, shared meals, and built new friendships through a variety of fun and engaging team-building activities.
