Laurentian Students!

To promote music on campus, the Laurentian University Music Association (LUMA) is raffling off tickets for the Laurentian University Concert Band’s next concert, A Night on Lake Ramsey. This concert will take place on Friday, March 29th, at 7:30pm in the Alphonse Raymond Auditorium. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 per ticket or $5 for 10 tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the Music Department in the School of Education from any LUMA Council member. You can contact LUMA on Facebook, or by email ([email protected]) for more details. Winners will be announced Tuesday, March 27th.

Congratulations to Sam Spiering, who was the winner of two tickets to Saturday's Sudbury Symphony Orchestra Concert.

Original Ticket Price: $10 Student/$15 Regular
Raffle Ticket Price: $2 for 1/$5 for 10

Legends and Love Stories (March 9th, 7pm)
Original Ticket Price: 20$ for Ages 21 and under/$44 Regular
Raffle Ticket Price: $3 for 1/$10 for 6
Winners will be announced on March 6th

The Laurentian University Music Association would like to welcome Benjamin Bain as our new Student Representative. Below is a small statement from Benjamin, outlining his commitment to the Student Representative position.

Dear LUMA and students,

I believe it is important for the student body to have a voice in department meetings so student concerns can be heard and dealt with in professional way. As someone who is always in the department practising or studying, I will always be around to listen to the concerns of my fellow students. More than this, I am well liked and trusted by all within the department and because of this, I believe myself to be the most suitable candidate and obvious choice for the position of student representative.

Laurentian Students!

The concert will be on Sunday March 3rd, at 4:00pm in SE-111 of the School of Education Building. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $2 per ticket or $5 for 10 tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the Music Department in the School of Education from any LUMA Council member. You can contact LUMA on Facebook, or by email ([email protected]) for more details. Winners will be announced on Friday March 1st. As there are no physical tickets being printed, the winners will need to present their name to the Front of House on the day of the concert.

Dear Students,

Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Helena Cheu has decided to step down from her position of student representative. On behalf of the students, the Laurentian University Music Association would like to thank her for her valuable contributions and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

As of now, the Student Representative position is open. Due to the important nature of this position, we will be looking for another student to fill it as soon as possible. If you are interested in the position, here are the requirements:

1. Attend faculty meetings as the student representative (these meetings usually take place once a month, on a Friday around 1:30pm):
a) Bring up concerns from the Laurentian University Music Association (LUMA) and the students.
b) Listen to the information and relay any information to the students that the faculty wishes to share.

If you would like to apply, please send an email with a small statement explaining why to [email protected]. You must be a current student of Laurentian studying music in order to apply. Although LUMA is organizing this election, you are not required to be a council member of LUMA and participate in meetings and related activities.

Unfortunately we need to fill this position as soon as possible so deadlines for this application will be due on Monday the 25th, and a vote will take place on Wednesday the 27th.

On Wednesday the 27th, an email will be sent out to your Laurentian email with a link to a Google Form with the candidate options. You have until the end of the day (11:59pm) to cast your vote. If there are any problems, please contact LUMA as soon as possible.
