Hello! My name is Cackaphant!
I’m sorry I’m only getting around to telling you about my summer now, but honestly… Miss Trista’s summer has been NOTHING but busy!
Miss Trista’s summer seems to consist of four very important things: Respite care, Travelling, Slo-pitch, and, of course… Ziggy!
Respite care was an adventure in its own and was absolutely amazing. Jonathan and Isaac bring nothing but energy and excitement and they made me laugh and smile all summer long. The growth I’ve seen in just 2 mouths is and was spectacular.
Now, before you ask, yes, the travelling is mostly because of slo-pitch! I’ve had the chance to see SO many new places and meet so many amazing people along the way. I’ve learned that good teammates + good teamwork = teams that start feeling more like family and friends.
But out of all the places I’ve been, my absolute favourite place was Wasaga Beach for the autism awareness, tournaments of champions. SPFA (play Slo-Pitch for Autism) is an inclusive organization that brings people together through slo-pitch while raising awareness and funds to support individuals and families who live with autism. Although I’m sure all of the play slow pitch for autism tournaments are fun. The tournament of champions is specifically for teams who have won a SPFA tournament earlier in the season. With that said, it was so amazing to see that teams were there to play, but most importantly, advocate.
Although I’ve met so many people that I absolutely love like her teams the Marlins, Northern Pikes, Rockets and Argos. Ziggy, Ms. Trista’s cat, is still by far my favourite. I’m just still not sure how she feels about having me around.
So yes… Ms. Trista’s summer has been BUSY.
Like, “wait, what day is it?” busy.
But honestly?
I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Because if this is what a summer full of adventures looks like, I think I’m going to need a bigger puddle … and maybe a life jacket for Ziggy.
