Important: New End-of-Day Pick-Up Procedure

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we begin the new school year, we would like to inform families of our new end-of-day pick-up procedure at Pius XII.

Effective immediately, all students who are being picked up at the end of the school day (3:05 p.m.) will gather in the designated area along the junior fence, closest to the school flags.

To help ensure a safe, organized, and efficient dismissal, our afternoon pick-up procedure will follow the same Kiss and Ride format used during morning drop-off:

Parents/guardians are asked to remain in their vehicles and proceed through the designated pick-up area.

Students will wait safely with staff supervisors at the junior fence.

A staff member will identify your child and direct them to your vehicle.

Please avoid parking and walking up to the fence to collect your child, as keeping vehicles moving will help reduce congestion and allow for a smoother dismissal for everyone.

The safety of our students remains our highest priority. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as everyone becomes familiar with this new routine. We are confident that, once established, this process will provide a safer and more efficient end-of-day dismissal for our students, families, and staff.

Dear JK Parents and Guardians:

We look forward to welcoming you in September with our amazing staff at Pius XII for the upcoming school. We look forward to getting to know each student and family as the year progresses!

Our school office will be closed over the summer, however, the office will reopen on August 31st, 2026 to receive phone calls and emails. Our school team has been working to prepare for the coming school year and are looking forward to welcoming our SK – Gr. 6 students back on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.

Pius XII will be doing a one day staggered start, as we know this transition to school is new and exciting for our students. This staggered start will ensure that your child feels comfortable in their new classroom. Our JK students will start on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026.

Prior to the start of school, we will be sharing some information to help you prepare your child to attend school. Please check your email regularly and the EDSBY Parent Portal https://scdsb.edsby.com once signed up, the first week of school. You will receive an invitation to join EDSBY. Please be patient to gain access.

To help your child better prepare for Kindergarten, please have the following items to start the school year:

School Bag & Lunch Bag (Both Labelled)
Please note: The school bag should have a bus tag with the student's bus information
A change of clothes placed in a large Zip-Lock Bag labelled with the student’s name (This will stay at school and be returned once worn)
Running Shoes – NO LACES PLEASE (to stay at school)
Filled Water Bottle
Hat
Sunscreen
