Wednesday, May17th, 2023, Sudbury & District Beekeeper's Association, will be holding its monthly meeting. Location is Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School, 275 Loach's Road, Sudbury, Ontario, P3E 2P8 ROOM 319

MEET & GREET 6 P.M.
MEETING 7 P.M.

Our President, Richard Conrad, will be offering greetings to all and introducing our guest speakers, Wayne Leblanc & Adelle Larmour-DeLong. Adelle & Wayne have members in our group for many years!!

Books from our bee library will be offered as we no longer have library access.

Items to be discussed that evening will be protect a bee....installing a nuc and capturing a swarm.

Everyone is welcome to attend! Please come out, meet beekeepers...ask questions...

7 pm President's Welcome - Richard Conrad
7:15 pm Guest Speaker Graeme Foers.
Graeme Foers is the current President of the OBBA/Chair of the Ontario Resistant Honey Bee
Selection Program (ORHBS).
Graeme runs a 180 hive operation under the name Lost Meadows Apiaries. Along with honey,
Graeme also sells hygienic Queens and Nucs. Two years ago, he opened a Meadery (under the
name Lost Meadows Meadery) with his sister.
As an active member of the ORHBS program, Lost Meadows Queens are bred for hygienic &
LVG behaviour as well as other desirable traits like gentleness and honey production.
He will be covering what the ORHBS program is and the benefits its queens have.
8:15 pm Coffee Break
8:30 pm Adelle Lamour-DeLong. A long time SDBA member and innovator.
Adelle's presentation, from “Off the Beetn’ Path”, will be th'e new entrance way called
“Protectabee” that was designed by a PhD candidate from Guelph University.
9:15 pm Q&A with Richard Conrad.
Richard will cover some basics about buying nucs and the OBBA standards. He will also talk
about his spring management, how he makes splits and expands his apiary, using Ontario queens.
10 pm Meeting adjourned.

Our speaker for the evening will be Kristina Greer, Bee Inspector in the Animal Health & Welfare Branch of OMAFRA

Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Farming and Rural Affairs

Please come out, meet our members, network and enjoy an evening of bee talk/knowledge.
