Cooking Up Confidence in the Classroom

A huge thank you to Angela for once again volunteering her time to support our students!

Today, Angela shared her culinary talents by teaching our students how to make fresh pasta from scratch.

From mixing and rolling the dough to creating their own delicious creations, every student had the opportunity to make and enjoy their very own bowl of homemade pasta.

Experiences like these provide valuable hands-on learning opportunities while helping students build confidence, life skills, and a sense of accomplishment.

Thank you as well to our dedicated education team for helping facilitate this engaging learning experience and making the day such a success.

We are grateful for community members like Angela who generously share their time, talents, and passion with our students! ❤️

🌱💚 Sometimes the best acts of kindness grow from a simple conversation.

Recently, a Nonna (grandmother) of a student at Pius XII visited St. Albert Learning Centre with her son to purchase plants for a Learning Support (LSC) classroom project. During her visit, she shared that the classroom was looking for donations of plants to help create a welcoming learning environment for the students.

When our students heard about the need, they didn't hesitate. They knew exactly what they wanted to do, they donated plants to help support the project at our sister school!

Later this afternoon, the principal of Pius shared photos of the students hard at work planting. To our surprise, we spotted one of our own PSW students in the pictures, completing her placement at the school. How amazing to see our students supporting younger learners in multiple ways; through generosity, community service, and hands-on placement experiences.

We are proud of the kindness and community spirit shown by our students.

Check out the photos of the plant pickup and the Pius students bringing their project to life! 🌿✨

🗓️ June 1: Ontario Day 🍁✨

Today, we celebrate the people, cultures, communities, and natural beauty that make Ontario a wonderful place to live, learn, and grow.

At St. Albert Learning Centre, students reflected on the theme “What Ontario Means to Me” through artwork that showcases the places, symbols, wildlife, and experiences that make our province unique. From loons and forests to campfires, lakes, city skylines, and the Canadian flag, our students captured their personal connections to Ontario through creativity and imagination.

Ontario is home to over 250,000 lakes, the iconic White Trillium, the Common Loon, and diverse communities that contribute to the rich history and culture of our province.

Today’s student artwork reminds us that Ontario means something different to each of us, yet we are all connected by the places we call home.

We are proud to showcase some of our students’ Ontario Day entries and celebrate the creativity, talent, and perspectives they bring to our school community.

Happy Ontario Day! 🍁❤️

After months of dedication, learning, and teamwork, our Knitting Threads of Hope project has come to a heartwarming conclusion.

Yesterday, the blankets created by St. Albert Learning Centre students, parishioners from Christ the King Parish, and community volunteers were delivered to the Cancer Centre by Angela and her daughter Milena. The blankets had previously been blessed and were carefully packaged along with a St. Albert carrying bag for each recipient.

What began as an opportunity to teach students how to knit and sew squares together grew into something much bigger, a beautiful example of compassion, service, and community coming together to bring comfort and hope to others.

A special thank you to Angela for the countless hours, passion, and dedication she invested in this project. From the first stitch to the final delivery, her commitment helped bring this vision to life and see it through to completion.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who shared their time, talents, and kindness to make this project possible. Together, we created more than blankets, we created warmth, comfort, and reminders that people care.

We can't wait to begin again in September and continue spreading hope, one stitch at a time.

As the school year begins to wind down, every day still counts.

This photo captures something special, one student helping another work through a math problem.

Success isn’t about knowing everything; it’s about showing up, asking questions, supporting one another, and not giving up when something feels difficult.

There are still opportunities to earn credits, improve marks, and reach your goals before June. If you need help, ask. If you’re struggling, let us know. If you’ve missed some days, come back. Every day is a new opportunity to move one step closer to success.

Come to school. Ask for help. Support one another. We believe in you, and we’ve got you every step of the way. ❤️
