PLAYCON 2026 is happening September 29, 2026, bringing our early learning community together for a day centred around play, creativity, connection and hands-on learning.

Expect immersive experiences, fresh ideas, and plenty of opportunities to play, explore, create and be inspired alongside other early learning professionals.

Government of Canada launches new initiative to support early childhood educators...

ARCQE looks forward to learning more about how this work and important supports for the Early Learning Community will benefit programs and Educators across Canada and in particular Alberta. As an organization that actively provides Coaching aligned with the current Occupational Standards developed nationally, we look forward to how this work will be updated and refreshed in better meeting evolving practice standards moving forward.

Math is everywhere... especially outside!➕🌿

When children head outdoors, they're doing so much more than running and playing. Through play-based learning, every stick, rock, puddle and pinecone becomes an opportunity to build early math skills in meaningful, hands-on ways.

🌱 Counting steps on a nature walk.
🪨 Sorting rocks by size, shape or colour.
🌼 Finding patterns in flowers and leaves.
💧 Filling and pouring water to explore more, less, full and empty.
📏 Measuring how far they can jump or how many steps it takes to reach a tree.

These playful experiences help children develop early math concepts naturally while encouraging curiosity, problem-solving and a lifelong love of learning.

The next time you head outside, remember you don't need worksheets to teach math. Nature provides everything children need to explore, discover and learn through play. 💚
