Susa Creek School Susa Creek School is a K-8 school located about 10km south of Grande Cache, AB. We are a part of Northland School Division.

We have students from the Co-operatives of Susa Creek, Victor Lake and Muskeg and Kamisak (GC Lake) and Joachim Enterprises and from the town of Grande Cache. Visit our page to stay informed about what's happening at the school!

Looking for more flexibility in how your child learns?

Northland School Division offers different ways for students to learn. While attending their local school works well for many students, Northland Online School may be a better fit for some students and families.

Northland Online School is welcoming students for the 2026 to 2027 school year, with online learning available from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Students can access First Nations and Métis language, culture and land based learning throughout the curriculum. Students in Grades 7 to 9 can choose live online classes or flexible learning at their own pace. High school students can also learn at their own pace with teacher support throughout the school day.

Students can access courses through partnerships across Northland School Division, learn Math with Minecraft, explore Science through coding, and receive a Chromebook and learning tools.

Telephone townhall with Minister of Education and Childcare Demetrios Nicolaides

Minister of Education and Childcare Demetrios Nicolaides is hosting a live telephone townhall on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The townhall will focus on investments in education for the 2026–27 school year. Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions.

Next Monday, September 14th is our school's Terry Fox run! Terry Fox was an inspiration because of his incredible courage, determination, and selflessness. Even while facing cancer and losing a leg, he chose to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. His strength and willingness to help others showed that one person can make a huge difference. Terry's story reminds us to never give up, even when things are difficult, and to use my challenges as motivation to help others.

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year. I hope you had a safe and enjoyable summer.

To our new families and staff, welcome to Northland School Division. As I begin my first school year as Superintendent of Schools and CEO, I am honoured to serve Northland students, families, staff and the communities we serve.

I want to recognize Cal Johnson for his leadership and service to Northland School Division. During his time as Superintendent, Cal helped establish a clear direction for the division through the Education Plan. Much of the important work of building that foundation has been done, and I have the opportunity to build on what Cal, the Board of Trustees, staff and communities have started. I thank Cal for his commitment to Northland and wish him and his family all the best in retirement.

The 2026-2029 Education Plan will continue to guide our work. As I begin this role, one of my priorities is taking the time to understand the local context of each community we serve. Every community is different, and understanding those differences is important when we think about how we support students, staff and schools. Literacy and numeracy will also remain a strong focus. These are foundational skills that support learning across all subject areas. Every student has potential, and our responsibility is to meet students where they are, provide the support they need and help them continue to grow.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, welcome to the 2026-2027 school year. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer. I also want to welcome the students, families and staff joining Northland School Division for the first time.

As we begin a new school year, the Board remains focused on the path we have set. The priorities in the 2026-2029 Education Plan continue to guide our work and reflect what we have heard from students, families, staff and the communities we serve. This year also brings a change in leadership. I want to recognize former Superintendent of Schools and CEO Cal Johnson, who retired on August 31st. Cal served Northland with steady leadership, strong relationships and a deep belief in the power of education. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you, Cal, for your service and commitment to Northland students, families, staff and the communities we serve. We wish you and your family all the best in retirement.

We also welcome Murray Marran as Superintendent of Schools and CEO. Murray brings proven leadership, knowledge of Northland School Division and a strong commitment to working with the communities we serve. His experience aligns well with the Education Plan and the work already underway across the division. While we have a new Superintendent, the Board remains focused on the priorities and direction we have established.

You may also notice a new look for Northland School Division. The new brand was shaped by feedback from Elders and Knowledge Keepers, Youth Council representatives, parents, trustees, principals and division leaders. The new logo reflects themes we heard during that engagement, including land, language, culture, identity and relationships.

Parents and guardians can also get involved in their child’s education by attending School Council or Principal Advisory Committee meetings. The more families participate, the more voices we hear, which helps the Board advocate on important issues affecting Northland students.
