The Village Office, Community Centre, Fitness Centre, Visitor Information Centre will be closed tomorrow due to electrical maintenance in the building. The Fitness Centre may open up around 8pm but we will notify the public if it reopens.

The Bottle Donation Money from the Redemption Centre is in for the month of July 2026 ......$1,536.30
The Village is working in conjunction with Action Ministries to disperse these funds to individuals or organizations in need. Action Ministries helps provide with the following:
Summer Camps for Children
The Food Bank
School Supplies for children
School Snacks/Lunches for children
Medical Expenses
Household Emergencies
Help with Power Bills
Winter wood for families/individuals
Amazing Christmas food boxes/Christmas gifts for children
Travel Expenses
& SO MUCH MORE!

Update *** Training is located at the fire hall - lunch is provided.

We are still looking to build a local Search & Rescue group on Grand Manan, and are in need of more members!

There will be training (Free) offered on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 9:30AM-4:00PM and will include Basic GSAR information, using the d4h website, completing modules independently, resource materials, TMR radio operations and handling, GPS units and settings, using GPS topographic maps and declinated compass, prepping a go bag.

Participants should bring lunch and a notebook.

We need approximately 12 members:
🔹 Two search teams of 5 members each
🔹 Two team leaders
Important: A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are mandatory for all volunteers. You can pick up the necessary forms for the RCMP at the village office.

If you've ever thought about giving back to your community, this is a great opportunity to get involved. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn, work as part of a team, and help when needed.

If you are interested in being a part of a search and rescue team on Grand Manan Island please join Charlotte County Search & Rescue for an information session at the Village Office on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 at 7PM. They will be looking for at least 10 members to create an Island Search and Rescue Team.

Earlier this week Premier Susan Holt and Local Government Minister Aaron Kennedy met with Village Council and Staff. Here are a few updates from the meeting:

🛳️ The need for a replacement ferry is on every agenda with the province. We highlighted the age of the Grand Manan V and the insecurity for the island while the Adventure is in dry dock. A new contract for the operation of the ferry is being negotiated and it includes the arrival of a new vessel.

💧We discussed the need for hydrological work that will identify potential areas of concern for groundwater supply. Understanding where our water supply is derived from is vital for future housing developments, etc.

🏥 The TeleDoc service at the Grand Manan Hospital has been extended from September 2026 to June 2027.

⛺️ The BGC is in conversation with Tourism NB regarding the long term operation of the Anchorage Park. The need for a path forward before next spring was emphasized.

🛫 We toured the hangar and discussed the need for the extension to the runway. The additional length provides for a safety margin for takeoffs and landings.

The Village Of Grand Manan - Municipal Transfer Station will be open New Brunswick Day from 7am-12pm. The Redemption Centre (Bottle Depot) will be closed all day Monday, August 3rd & Tuesday, August 4th, reopening Wednesday, August 5th.
