What an unforgettable Week 7! Between smoky skies, surprise build-projects, and big wins in nature, our campers proved once again that nothing stops their wild spirit. Their energy and curiosity made every single day feel like a brand-new adventure!โšก๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฆ‹

Here is a look back at what we got up to:

Board Games, 3D Maps & Pool Time: When the smoke rolled in, we pivoted over to the Youth Hub for an awesome indoor board game session! We also kicked off our 3D cardboard map project where the campers' creativity exploded, and some kept adding details to their landscapes all week long. We also cooled off and burned off some wild energy with our classic swim at the pool!๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐ŸŽข๐Ÿ’ฆ

Invasive Species Deep-Dive: We had a blast hosting Natasha, Wildsightโ€™s Invasive Plant Program coordinator! Through interactive hands-on games, the kids learned how to spot native vs. invasive species. They got so enthusiastic during our weeding session that those invasive plants didn't stand a chance!๐Ÿงค๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒฟ

Slingshots & Mini Shelters: Creativity and bushcraft skills were on full display as the kids crafted their very own homemade slingshots and built clever mini shelters!๐Ÿน๐Ÿชต

Mud Island, Wood Art & Elliotโ€™s Bike Jump: We headed back to Mud Island for camouflage games and beautiful wood-slice painting. During our free play afternoon, the kids teamed up to build a custom bike jump for our helper Elliot. Seeing him test it out was an absolute highlight that had everyone cheering!๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿชฃ๐ŸŸ

Pure Joy at Go organic sports ranch : We spent a phenomenal day with Infinity and Rhonda! They are the most welcoming hosts imaginable. The kids had a blast playing disc golf and tennis, visiting the garden, feeding the goats, and exploring the wetlands. We cannot thank them enough for such an unforgettable time once again!๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿชด๐ŸŽพ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ

Sun Prints, Canopy Climbing & Cool Downs: We tried out turmeric sun prints, played an "Unnatural I-Spy" game to learn about animals and insects camouflage, and tackled new heights at the hidden cove! Every single camper pushed their limits climbing safely and discovering what theyโ€™re capable of. We ended the week splashing through a sponge relay race with some sweet treats!๐Ÿงฝ๐Ÿชฃ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿซ

I canโ€™t believe next week is already our final week of camp๐Ÿฅบ! I feel so deeply grateful every single day for the chance to guide these amazing kiddos in nature and watch them step out of their comfort zones with big smiles.๐Ÿซถ

Thank you for another incredible week, and see you tomorrow for the last one!๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒžโœจ

We may have had a shorter four-day week after the BC Day long weekend, but our campers made every single second count! From cozy kitten visits to high-flying pond swings, Week 6 was absolute magic from start to finish. ๐ŸŒฒโœจ

Hereโ€™s a look at what our amazing explorers got up to:

๐ŸŒฟ Ecosystem Connections & Beaver Lodges: We dove deep into how every living thing in nature connects, even designing and building our very own imaginary beaver lodges!๐Ÿฆซ

๐Ÿฑ Little Mittens Animal Rescue Association Visit: The campers learned all about pet care and the vital work this amazing local organization does for our community. The hardest part? Resisting the urge to foster and adopt every single cute kitten on the spot!๐Ÿพ

๐ŸŽจ Watercolor Bookmaking with Local Artists: We were so lucky to host two wonderful local artists, Janis and Heather, for a unique workshop. The kids showed unbelievable focus and were beyond proud of the beautiful watercolor books they created!๐Ÿ“š

๐Ÿชต Mud Island & Epic Shelter Building: A return trip to our beloved Mud Island at Confluence Park brought out the absolute best in unstructured play, fostering communication, regulation, and pure sensory joy! The kids also asked for a serious shelter-building challenge and completely delivered, constructing sturdier, more creative forts than ever!๐Ÿ•๏ธ

๐Ÿ’ฆ Pool Day & Columbia Wetlands Outpost: Tuesdayโ€™s pool session was a total splash, but Fridayโ€™s trip to Columbia Wetlands Outpost was PHENOMENAL! Between the pirate ship, tree-and-net ropes course, pond rope swing, and the epic slip 'n slide, the kiddos were in paradise. So many brave campers pushed their limits sliding down from the very top. Itโ€™s an absolute local gem, and the kids literally didn't want to leave!โš“๏ธ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

It was a week filled with brave choices, creative breakthroughs, big heart, and endless laughter. Huge thanks to our visiting artists, Little Mittens, and the Columbia Wetlands Outpost crew for making Week 6 one for the books!๐Ÿซถ

Happy weekend everyone, and we can't wait to start Week 7 tomorrow!๐ŸŒž

What another incredible, action-packed week at Get Wild Summer Day Camp! ๐ŸŒฒโœจ

With a full crew of 12 adventurous kiddos last week, our camp was brimming with big ideas, endless curiosity, and vibrant energy! It was the kind of week where, no matter what we had planned, the kids took the lead with their own brilliant ideas, thriving through loose-parts play and discovering nature on their own terms. I loved watching their imaginations run completely wild!๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿš€

Hereโ€™s a look at what our amazing explorers got up to:

๐ŸŽจ Salt Dough Mosaics & Floral Needle Art: The kids made their own homemade salt dough from scratch to create beautiful mosaic art pieces! Some campers also dove into needle art using bright, freshly picked dandelions.๐ŸŒป

๐Ÿงผ Wool Soap Felting with Cindy: We had a wonderful visit from Cindy, a talented local artist who shared her passion, patience, and warmth with us. She taught the campers how to felt soap using real wool ; a cozy, hands-on craft they were so proud to take home! Huge thank you, Cindy!๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿซง๐Ÿงถ

๐Ÿพ Predator & Prey Games: We burnt off plenty of energy playing active, high-stakes woodland games where campers learned about animal food chains, survival skills, and forest camouflage while running wild in the trees.๐Ÿบ๐ŸฆŒ

๐Ÿ๏ธ Mud Island Explorations at Confluence Park: With the water levels finally low enough, we were able to safely cross over and fully explore the "island of mud" and the kids truly did not want to leave! From building a mini zoo and crafting boats to "cooking" gourmet mud meals and diving into imaginative play, they were in total paradise.๐ŸซŸโš“๏ธ

๐Ÿฆฌ Field Trip to Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch & Guest Cottage: Thursdayโ€™s excursion was pure magic! We got up close with the magnificent buffalo, listened to captivating stories of the wild, and even tried our hands at traditional First Nations fire-starting tools.๐Ÿ”ฅ During our walk, we discovered a stunning river landscape rich with mud and endless spots to explore.

๐Ÿ•๏ธ The Ultimate Survivor Challenge: The campers were given a real-world scenario where they had to adapt and survive in different environments (desert, glacier, dense forest!). They worked together to build custom shelters, construct fire pits, and design clever systems to gather food and water. They were so deeply immersed in this challenge that they happily spent the entire afternoon bringing their survival camps to life!๐Ÿน๐ŸŽฃโ›บ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐ŸŠ Pool Days & Shelter Building: As per our favourite tradition, we cooled off with a fun trip to the pool on Tuesday, and spent time throughout the week gathering logs and branches to build incredible, sturdy shelters in the woods.๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿชพ

It was a week full of messy hands, deep teamwork, child-led discoveries, and so much laughter. Thank you to our amazing families, our guest artist Cindy, and to Leo from Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch for making it one for the books!

Happy Monday everyone and we can't wait to start Week 6 tomorrow! ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ”๏ธ

What an absolutely magical week of Get Wild Summer Day Camp! ๐ŸŒฒโœจ

With a cozy group of just seven incredible kiddos, this week felt extra special. Having a smaller crew allowed us to connect so deeply, form sweet friendships, and move through the week like a tight-knit team. I pinch myself every single day that I get to guide these amazing young explorers, it truly is the best job in the world!!๐Ÿซถ๐ŸŒฑ

We packed SO much adventure, learning, and fun into our days together. Hereโ€™s a look at what we got up to:

๐ŸŽจ Nature Creations & Forest Discoveries: We made our own salt dough from scratch to press forest treasures and textures into "fossils" ๐Ÿฆ•. Each camper also created their own stunning sticky-frame art piece that caught the sunlight beautifully, built a whimsical goblin village full of mini shelters, and crafted their very own imaginative bugs!๐Ÿ›

๐Ÿ‹ Sweet Harvests & Summer Treats: We got to harvest all week long! On Monday, we picked wild Oregon grapes to brew our own fresh lemonade Later in the week, a lovely camperโ€™s mom invited us to harvest sour Romeo cherries right from her front yard, which turned into a delicious cherry lemonade picnic!๐Ÿ’ Plus, we couldnโ€™t resist snacking on wild saskatoon berries whenever we spotted them on our walks, the kids absolutely loved it!๐Ÿซ

๐Ÿพ Community Visits & WildSafe Rangers: We visited the sweet rescue cats with Kim at the Little Mittens Animal Rescue Association (it was SO hard not to bring them all home!). We also welcomed Chloe from WildSafeBC Columbia Valley, who taught us all about bear attractants and safety through fun games๐Ÿป. Every camper officially earned their certified WildSafe Ranger badge and a bag of goodies! Huge thank you, Kim and Chloe!

๐Ÿฅ Mรฉtis Culture & Storytelling: We were so honored to have Caren Nagao from the Metis Nation Columbia River Society join us. She read us a beautiful story, taught us a song, and introduced the kids to traditional drumming. Having a familiar face from school made this precious moment extra special for the kiddos. Thank you so much, Caren, for sharing your knowledge and warmth with us!

๐Ÿง— Rock Climbing with The Dirtbag Corporation : Thursdayโ€™s field trip to go outdoors rock climbing with Dan was absolutely priceless! Dan was incredible with the kids, encouraging them, keeping everyone safe, and gently pushing them out of their comfort zones. The kids were so brave, facing their fears, learning how to belay one another, and even carrying their own heavy backpacks (most of the way! ๐Ÿ˜‰). Some campers were so inspired they even signed up for his August climbing camp! Huge shoutout to Dan for an unforgettable day!๐Ÿค˜

๐Ÿฆ… Bird Beaks, Beaches & Water Fun: We learned all about how bird beaks adapt using fun treat-based activities, then spent an afternoon at the beach where the kids blew me away with their creativity, building mud spas, fancy restaurants, and elaborate mini water parks! We wrapped up our hot summer days with a safety lesson and games at the swimming pool (complete with prizes!) and a blast at the spray park!๐Ÿ’ฆ

It was a week full of courage, laughter, shared treats, and sweet memories. Thank you to all our incredible guest visitors, community members, and sweet camp families for making this week one for the books!๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒž

Have a wonderful weekend!

What an absolutely unforgettable week of camp we just had! ๐ŸŒฒโœจ

Every week of Get Wild brings its own unique magic, and this group of campers kept that amazing momentum going! The energy all week was just fantastic, and we connected so deeply as a group. Honestly, these kiddos brought such a resilient, positive mindset to every single activity! It was truly wholesome to watch them learn, grow, and explore together!๐Ÿ›๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿชป

Here is a quick look at the amazing adventures we got up to during this week ๐ŸŒž :

Forest Skills & Micro Trails: We spent some beautiful time connecting with nature using our senses during a relaxing forest bathing session, played nature bingo, and built mini wilderness shelters. The kids also got super creative building their own "micro trails," complete with tiny signs for interpretation!๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿงš๐Ÿฆ‹

First Aid & Community Connections : A massive highlight was our first aid workshop with two absolutely amazing local paramedics! The kids learned basic first aid, practiced getting comfortable with bandages, and learned exactly what to do when someone is hurt. The best part? We got to go inside a real ambulance and ask plenty of questions!๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿฉนโ›‘๏ธ We also took a wonderful trip to visit the Little Mittens Animal Rescue Association to learn more about how we can care for our animals in our community!๐Ÿฑ

The Ultimate Summit Adventure & Boo the Bear : Our big field trip up the mountain was an absolute dream. We got to see Boo the bear live in action while learning all about his story! ๐Ÿป We got to rode the gondola and chairlifts (which was a brand-new experience for a few of our brave campers๐Ÿคฉ) and went on an amazing summit hike entirely guided by the kiddos themselves.๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿ”๏ธThey pushed through limits and fears, worked so hard, and found plenty of nature treasures along the way. I am beyond proud of them!๐Ÿฅน

Ecosystems, Land Art & Pond Finds: The fantastic and knowledgeable Joan joined us for some incredible ecosystem games. We learned about the life cycle of salmons, how nature can heal us and the impressive connection between all living organisms in an ecosystem. We even played a super fun memory game with different leaves! We also poured our hearts into beautiful land art, hosted a creative "gallery walk," played in the sand, and discovered cool creatures in the pond!๐Ÿชณ๐Ÿชฒ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐ŸŸ

A huge thank you to our incredible paramedics, Kim at the Little Mittens shelter and to Joan for sharing their time and knowledge with us this week!๐Ÿซถ

๐ŸŒฟIt is so incredibly rewarding to watch our campers challenge themselves, support one another, and connect so deeply with the world around them.๐ŸชพAnother fantastic week in the books!๐ŸŽฏ

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!๐ŸŒป

Honestly, our campers blew us away this week with their courage, creativity, resilience, and awesome teamwork.๐ŸŒฒโœจ

Bears & Ancient Fossils: Sarah enthusiastically taught us all about bear behaviors, footprints, and safety on hikes (and we even foraged for wild strawberries hehe!๐Ÿ˜‹). We also visited the Okanagan Regional Library Golden for an awesome workshop with Bob Oโ€™Donnell, where we learned how fossils form, saw a real Megalodon tooth (!!!), and everyone got a fossil shark tooth to take home! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿฆˆ๐Ÿ“š

The Ultimate Skybridge Day: Our big field trip was a massive highlight! The campers took on so many different challenges, and we are incredibly proud of everyone who conquered their fears high up in the air! It was amazing to watch! ๐ŸŒ‰๐Ÿฆ…

Art, Games & Water Fun: We got super messy and creative trying out foam painting, painted rocks, build bird nests and learned nature weaving! We paired all that art with high-energy camp games, swimming, and cooling off at the splash park to make the most of the sunny days! ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’ฆ
..and so much more!!

๐Ÿป A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO SARAH!โค๏ธ A massive thank you to Sarah for sharing her incredible knowledge about bears with us this week! She was so patient, kind, and enthusiastic, and the kids absolutely loved learning how to be safe explorers!

We are so proud of how much our campers challenged themselves, learned new things, and grew closer as a group this week. It is incredibly rewarding to watch these kids try new things with such big smiles on their faces. Week two was an absolute blast, and we are so excited to carry this amazing energy right into next week! ๐Ÿš€

The weather this week was completely unpredictable, but our amazing campers didnโ€™t let a few rain clouds slow them down! For a short week, we packed in a whole summerโ€™s worth of fun! We are so lucky to kick off the season with such an energetic, curious, and resilient group of kids!๐ŸŒฒโœจ
Here is a quick look at just a few of the things we got up to during our wild first week of Get Wild Summer Day Camp:

* Survivalists & Rainy Day Fun: We built awesome wilderness shelters to stay dry during the heavy rainfall, whipped up secret mud recipes, collected treasures, and made art using the rain. ๐Ÿชต๐ŸŒง๏ธ
* The Ultimate Ranch Day: Our field trip to Organic Sports Ranch was a massive highlight! We got to see newborn goats and chickens, played disc golf and tennis, took a gardening class to bring home a tomato plant, and explored the pond (which led to a few wet feet and big laughs!). ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ๐ŸŒŠ
* Art & Games: We got a wonderful introduction to land art, printed different leaves, caught up on some coloring, and the campers absolutely fell in love with the game of Werewolf (a massive Friday hit at the spray park!). ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŽจ..and so much more that we couldn't fit it all into one post!

๐Ÿ“ฃ A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR CAMP FAMILIES! Due to the wild weather, we had to make a few last-minute changes to our plans. Thank you all for being so incredibly helpful, kind, and flexible. The communication was awesome! ๐Ÿซถ

๐ŸŒพ A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR HOSTS ! โค๏ธA massive thank you to Infinity and Rhonda for hosting us at the Go Organic Sports Ranch! We discovered so much about nature, learned new skills, and made so many great memories. If week one was this good, we can't wait for the rest of the summer!
