A little life update from Stay Wild 🤍🏔️

This season, we’re intentionally scaling back operations so we can spend more time with family — slowing down in the ways that matter most. This past year we embarked on the 2 kids under 2 adventure and can confirm it’s wild 😂.

Because of that, we’ll only be releasing a limited number of avalanche courses in Golden this season. Same passion, same commitment to quality — just fewer dates.

If you’ve been thinking about getting out with us this winter, we recommend checking out our recently posted dates.

Thank you for supporting a small business that values mountains and family. We’re beyond grateful for this community!

— Britt & the Stay Wild team 🖤

Aaaaand last, but certainly not least, the rest of the Stay Wild crew 🙌 seriously, we’re so lucky to have such wicked group of folks that want to play in the mountains and educate others all in the same 💙

Don’t forget to tell your instructors you love ‘em… or, at the very least, don’t forget to thank them for all that they do! 🥹

💔

We’re deeply saddened to learn of a fatal avalanche that happened yesterday in the Rocky Mountains, just east of our Purcells forecast region. Even a shallow avalanche in consequential terrain can be serious and right now, we’re particularly wary in regions where it is possible for avalanches to step down to a deeper weak layer.

We sure have been having fun chasing that cold smoke lately🌬️💙

how are you feeling about these cold temps?

01/30/2025

Goodbye dry January, hello snowy February. Wonder what the new snow could mean for our snowpack? ❄️🤔 read below 👇

In case you haven’t noticed, much of BC has had little to no new snow for weeks….and weeks…While it might be stable now, long dry periods with cold temps and clear nights can create weak layers, such as facets and surface hoar and those suckers like to stick around.

Remeber with every incoming storm we want to think of what surface is getting buried. Surface hoar? Facets? Temperature crust from the recent inversion? These layers could become become reeeeal problematic reeeal quick and powder fever might put our blinders up 🫠 The new snow will add load to our snowpack, and if it doesn’t bond well to the old surface, we could see some spicy conditions 🌶️🥵

This is the time to pay attention to the avalanche forecast, track how the new snow is bonding and ease into terrain cautiously. Yeah, we’re sick of the survival skiing and cement-adjacent turns, too… but don’t let the new snow stoke fool you - keep safe out there, folks🫡 ❤️
