Ladies Hunt Stuff

Sonia went down south with Sheelagh and Rachel from our learn to hunt series, and Deborah from Fairmont for turkey opener 🦃

Although no turkeys were taken down, we had a great time scouting a new area, and setting up on a promising spot for an evening and morning hunt!

It was such a cool experience to go hunting with a few ladies from the series, can’t wait for the next time 😃

We had no idea what we were getting into when we started this thing, and you ladies have made it so rewarding and fun!

Due to the return of winter, we are postponing our last ladies learn to hunt session to April in hopes of having sunshine and dry ground available for our field day (and community BBQ - stay tuned for info)!!

We’ve heard from the ladies that they would love more social events, so we are turning our March session into a Ladies Hunt Stuff social at Whitetooth Brewery!

Everyone is welcome, even if you already hunt or haven’t been able to make any of the learn to hunt sessions, no worries! Come on out and meet other rad ladies who enjoy getting out in the bush!

SO we want to know what works best for YOU!! Should we stick with the usual Thursday March 14 at 7pm or bump it to Friday March 15 at 7pm so hopefully more ladies can make it and it’s the end of the week?

A huge thanks to .mikomi for teaching us about hide tanning! Such a great way to really utilize as much of an animal as possible!

Ladies!! Who wants to learn about hide tanning? We are so lucky to have Shauna Mikomi present at our next session. Shauna resides in Golden and has spent the last 9 years honing her craft and teaching others the art. Through her business SKIN, Shauna provides professional tanning services, creates beautiful hand-crafted items, and offers in-person and online courses. She has worked with hides of all sizes, ranging from bison to fish. Did you know you can tan fish skin?! You won’t believe how soft it is! Another trip around the sun for our fiery founder Sarah! We are forever grateful that she showed us how to hunt with dogs, keeps our bodies limber with her expert physio knowledge (and ab workouts), and provides endless laughs with her quick wit. You are truly one of a kind.

And look at the cheeky little kid, you could tell what was coming!!!
