With the Art of Migration exhibition coming to an end and leaving the Art Gallery of Golden, we wanted to thank our different community partners and clients that took the time to come and view the exhibition. A big thank you as well to the Art Gallery of Golden for being such wonderful hosts and for being so helpful throughout the whole process.

This exhibition was a travelling group show and each piece was created by a different artist residing in the Kootenays who was paired with a newcomer to Canada; their task was to listen to the newcomer’s migration story and translate it into their artistic medium of choice. Our local artist, Nik Black, was very generous in wanting to showcase our local newcomer story through painting.

Be prepared. Stay Informed. ⁣

Being prepared isn’t just about having the right supplies. It’s also about working together, so we can all respond and recover better.⁣

⁣⁣
You can take a few simple steps now to stay safe and prepared in the case of an emergency:⁣

✅ Know the risks: Golden’s top hazards include wildfire, flooding, and hazardous materials (road/rail).⁣

✅ Build your emergency kit and grab-and-go bags: www.PreparedBC.ca/emergencykit

✅ Make a household emergency plan so everyone knows what to do, and plan for pets and livestock: www.PreparedBC.ca/make-your-plan

✅ FireSmart your property: https://begins-at-home-guide.firesmartbc.ca

✅ Connect with neighbours. In an emergency, the most immediate help will come from those around you.
