I went to school and received my ECE diploma in Sarnia and than worked in 2 big daycares - a bilingual one in Sarnia and another one in Woodstock, before moving back to Goderich. I run an in home based daycare and what I do is called: "family grouping" and the big daycare does "age base grouping", the difference is that I have children ages 0 months - 4yrs. I like this better because the older ch

ildren learn from the littles ones (they ask questions to get a better understanding, it helps them later in life, just in case mom and dad have another child, helps them with leadership & understanding, etc.) and the little ones learn from the older ones (monkey see, monkey do), because if they see their friends or peers doing something, theres a greater chance that they will want to mimic it or learn how to do it as well. This is how they learn anyways, from observing and wanting to accomplish it themselves. In home daycares are only allowed to have 5 children a day . . . . if they have more children than this I would refer to them as a babysitter and not so much a daycare provider. My daycare is totally separate from my living space, other than you would come into my house at the front door and we use the kitchen for snacks & lunch. I also have a separate sleep room for children who are younger (who might need more than one rest during the day) or for those who are feeling tired, under the weather (until they can be picked up) or just need some space from others. My hours are 8am – 4:30pm, Monday to Thursday & please private message me to inquire about my daily price! snack, hot lunch & p.m. snack, which are all healthy choices (unless your child is not on solids yet or has allergies, than you would be providing the foods / bottles) and you would bring in your own diapers, sunscreens, wipes, etc. as needed. I also follow a schedule / routine and have all educational toys (which I switch weekly so children do not get bored of playing the same toys and so I can clean them properly), no character toys & lots of outdoor play (weather permitting)! My outdoor space is completely fenced in, lots of area to run & play (with a good amount of shade) and I also have a large sand box! Going forward from there, I usually set up a meet and greet so you & your child can come view my set up and see if I would meet your expectations . .. . I also have a contract that I would send home with you to go over to see if you agree with all of my expectations / rules / schedules (which are really in place to protect me and for insurance purposes).
