Happy Weekend Vikings! Another great week of learning at GDCI. This week our high standards paid off as we received our results from last school year’s OSSLT, with our students achieving outstanding scores across the board. Yesterday, we walked for Wenjack. 🧡 Chanie Wenjack was only 12 years old when he died while trying to walk home from the residential school where he was being held. His story reminds us of the painful history of residential schools and the children and families whose lives were forever impacted.
Our walk is a way to remember Chanie, honour his story, learn from the past, and take steps toward reconciliation. Every step matters because remembering must lead to understanding, and understanding must lead to action.
