It was another successful outing at the Alberta Indigenous Games this year for our Na’to’sapi athletes!
Our four Na’to’sapi basketball teams found the podium with:
U13B Girls Gold
U11A Boys Silver
U13A Boys Bronze
U15A Girls Bronze
Our Track and Field participants had another remarkable showing as well, bringing home close to 60 individual medals!
Finally, all of our volleyball teams played hard to round out the games and our U13 boys were able bring home the bronze!
Most importantly, all the athletes had fun and represented Siksika well with their positivity and great sportsmanship! We look forward to this event every year as it is a great way to spend the summer celebrating all the hard work of our pookaiks.
We would like to give a big shout-out to all of the families who continually support our young athletes. Building your summer around an event like this is a big undertaking, but your unwavering commitment year-round to our extracurriculars continues to be awe-inspiring. We truly could not do it without all of you!
Thank you as well to Jacob Hendy and the other organizers of the 2026 Alberta Indigenous Games. This event is incredibly meaningful for our youth and we appreciate all that you do to make this happen each year.
A huge thank you as well to the Siksika Support Centre for the countless hours spent advocating for our youth and providing the funding for this over the last two years. In particular, thank you to Erica J. Melting Tallow, Colleen Two Horns, and the rest of the staff who worked behind the scenes to make this dream come to life. You are the unsung heros and we are incredibly grateful for you all.
Finally, thank you to the Siksika Board Of Education for the ongoing support with this initiative, and to all of the staff and volunteers who choose to spend their summer break coaching our pookaiks. You are all appreciated and are a blessing to the children of Siksika.
We cannot wait until next year! Go Siksika Go!
