Our Greenstone summer learning crew had a blast!

🏞️ Our Greenstone crew hit the road to explore some of the incredible natural wonders our region has to offer, including Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and Kakabeka Falls, along with a trip to Fort William Historical Park! Learning, history, wellness, and outdoor exploration all came together through some pretty amazing experiences.

Isabelle Tobin - Nakina Station - Joined May 2025 as a Student Cadet - Now a Firefighter in Nakina
Completed all firefighter level training including Firefighter Level 1, Firefighter Level 2, Hazardous Materials Awareness (certified), and Hazardous Materials Operations. Izzy has also completed requirements for optional training as a Fire and Life Safety Educator Level 1.

Hey Knight families!
Final report cards should be appearing in mailboxes this week. Please note that we did identify an issue with a few grade 9 report cards that were not cumulating the earned credits or showing updated community hours earned. We’ve corrected the mistake and will be resending copies to those who were affected soon. Our apologies!

For our graduates, your diplomas and final credit summaries have also been mailed out! Congratulations on officially being done with high school!

Celebrating excellence on the world stage:

The IIW (International Institute of Welding) is the International Body for welding throughout the world and the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB), for example, is a member of the IIW.

Each year, the IIW has an annual meeting. This year, the 79th IIW Annual Assembly will take place from July 12 to 17, 2026, in Salzburg, Austria, bringing together global experts, researchers, engineers, and industry representatives in the field of welding and joining. During this event, the IIW has a photographic exhibition of welded art from around the world. This year, Addica MacIver’s work - “Moose of Steel” - will be displayed at this event. Mr. Burke is also featured as an Inspiring Champion for his passion and dedication for welding. Congratulations to you both! May you continue to inspire future generations of incredibly talented welders.

GCHS would like to whole-heartedly thank Equinox Gold - Greenstone Gold Mine for their generous donation of $10,000 towards our OFSAA fund. This donation will allow us to support student athletes in competing in the provincial championships next year. Thanks GGM!!

This semester, Wyatt B. spent his time in Mr. Burke's welding course fabricating and welding this beautiful fire pit. This week, he completed the project by delivering it to the Ontario Native Women's Association, where it will be shared between them, the Ojibwewan Center, and the Marten Falls' office. Excellent work, Wyatt!

Your last chance for a transition event is taking place on June 24 from 4-7pm. Come in with a parent/guardian for a BBQ dinner, scavenger hunt, and tour of downtown Geraldton. Parents/guardians will get a final Q&A opportunity, Edsby walk through, and chance to finish up registration forms.

A reminder that students who do not have completed registration forms will be sent home on the first day of school until the forms are completed and we can enter them into the system.
