COCAL Statement 6/9/26
Traditionally, COCAL conferences have taken place every two years in August, alternating countries and coasts as much as possible. This year had been the United States’ turn to host. However, because of the potential vulnerabilities of international travelers in the US due to the current political situation, we gratefully accepted the offer of our Mexican contingent to host this year instead. We had planned to hold the conference in Mexico City in August.
However, the current political and economic situation has led us to choose a virtual conference this year instead. We will therefore be offering two webinars in 2026-2027, hosted by COCAL Mexico from the AAPAUNAM* auditorium. We will offer the first webinar on November 6 or 7, 2026, with two sessions in one day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
A second webinar might be offered from the US in early 2027. We hope to be able to host an in-person COCAL conference in August 2027.
The themes for the COCAL 2026-2027 webinars will be “Artificial Intelligence” and “The Difficulties of Intergenerational Dialogue Caused by the Sociocultural Changes of the Twenty-First Century.” Watch for the final program and call for participation by visiting our website at http://cocalinternational.org and signing up for our newsletter on the “COCAL Updates” tab.
