Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation — a day to honour Residential School Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

We encourage our community to wear orange and take time to learn and reflect on the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.

We are grateful for the Wabanaki Centre, the Senate Committee on Reconciliation, and the STUdent Reconciliation Committee for their continued work at STU.

A special thank you to the Indigenous Students Services team for organizing the Orange Shirt Day event on campus and to all those who joined us to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Please note that because of the weather, the Orange Shirt Day event will take place at 12:30 PM in the Dawn Russell Student Lounge, Sir James Dunn Hall. The lighting of the sacred fire will still take place in the lower courtyard at 12:00 PM.

Join us on Tuesday, September 29 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM to commemorate Orange Shirt Day and recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. There will be a Ceremonial Fire and drumming in the lower courtyard, followed by a luncheon. All are welcome!
