This year’s conference is part of the Still Here Emancipation celebration in Fredericton that celebrates four centuries of Black heritage, resilience, and community in New Brunswick. We are looking forward to the workshops and sessions featuring scholars, artists, writers, and community historians.

The Gregg Centre supported three of our PhD candidates attending this years 36rd Canadian Military History Colloquium at Wilfrid Laurier University from May 8 to 9, 2026.

The Gregg Centre extends a formal congratulations to all the UNB graduates this week and would like to send a special congratulations to Thien Dang. Thien worked with the Gregg Centre team as a research and program assistant during his studies and he will continue his education at UNB in the fall as he pursues his Masters Degree in historical studies.
We wish him and all the graduates the greatest success in their future endeavours!

To understand the future of coastal defence, we had to stand where history was made. 🥾🌊
We teamed up with Dr. Windsor of the and for a tactical field study of Saint John Harbour’s historic coast defence system at Partridge Island. On the island, Dr. Windsor guided our members as we inspected the historic radar, range finder, and concrete gun positions that provided critical protection for Saint John and Canada as a whole. This exercise was all about using the lessons of the past to analyze contemporary defence challenges.
Click the video and watch the action unfold as Royal Canadian Navy Reserve small boat crews from across Atlantic Canada—led by —skillfully ferried our members and Dr. Windsor through the powerful Bay of Fundy tides to a location steeped in heritage.

Pour comprendre l'avenir de la défense côtière, nous devions nous tenir là où l'histoire s'est écrite. 🥾🌊
Nous avons fait équipe avec le Dr Windsor du et le pour une étude de terrain tactique du système historique de défense côtière du port de Saint John à l'île Partridge.
