Paul MacLean FUN League | U9–U18
Miramichi’s longest-standing recreational league is back, with cross-ice 3-on-3 for U9 through U15 and full-ice games for U18.

We have made a couple of updates to our U16 AAA Caps Selection Camp schedule to give our coaching staff extended time to evaluate players in game situations.

Two of our evaluation sessions have been extended by 30 minutes and will now be run as intersquad scrimmages. Please note the revised end times highlighted in green on the updated schedule. We will also confirm the game time for our Exhibition Game in Moncton in the coming days.

That’s a wrap on another summer of our Advanced Performance Academy!

This week, our U11, U13, U15 and U16 groups finished up their on-ice training after a great summer of development. Athletes also participated in off-ice training with Synergy, giving them the opportunity to work on strength, movement and overall athletic development alongside their time on the ice. Our U15 and U16 athletes aren’t quite finished yet, as they’ll continue their off-ice training with Synergy through September 3.

Thank you to every athlete who trained with us this summer, as well as the families who made the commitment to get them to the rink week after week. We wish everyone the best of luck as tryouts, camps and the 2026-27 season get underway.

And remember, our support doesn’t end when summer programming does. We’re here throughout the winter, so if our athletes ever have questions or concerns about their play or development, our team is always available to help.

A big thank you to Mike Thomas for spending part of his summer with our U11 and U13 Advanced Performance Academy athletes and leading them through weekly yoga sessions. Today marked the final yoga session of the summer!

Yoga is a great complement to the work athletes do on the ice and in the gym. It helps develop mobility, flexibility, balance and body control, while also teaching athletes how to slow down, focus on their breathing and recover.

Thanks, Mike, for bringing something different to our Advanced Performance Academy and helping our athletes understand that development goes well beyond what happens on the ice.

Good luck to all of the Champions athletes heading off to professional, junior and university/college camps over the coming weeks.

We’ve had the opportunity to work with many of you throughout the spring and summer, and now it’s time to put that work to use. Whether you’re returning to a team, competing for a spot or taking the next step in your hockey career, we wish you the very best at camp.

The Paul MacLean FUN League is back in Miramichi!

As Miramichi’s longest-standing recreational hockey league, the FUN League has been giving players a chance to get on the ice, play the game and enjoy some friendly competition for years. We’re happy to have it back again this summer with divisions from U9 through U18.

U9, U11 & U13/U15
6 ice times | Cross-ice 3-on-3
$156.25 + HST

U18
8 ice times | Full-ice games
$208.70 + HST

All sessions take place at the Miramichi Civic Centre, beginning August 25.

Female hockey development is coming to Miramichi!

We’re excited to have Hilary Wood leading two Female Development sessions designed specifically for U9 through U15 players in Miramichi. With separate groups for U9/U11 and U13/U15, players will have two focused sessions to get back on the ice, sharpen their skills and prepare for the season ahead.

We’re looking forward to bringing more Champions female programming to Miramichi and giving local players another opportunity to train together as the new season approaches.

The road to the U16 AAA Fredericton Caps starts September 6!

Our Selection Camp schedule is set, with three evaluation skates followed by an exhibition game against Moncton on September 13. The team will be selected by September 15, with practices beginning immediately as we prepare for our home opener on September 20.

We know some players will still be participating in the U18 AAA Selection Camp. With our season beginning September 20, we have had to begin our selection process earlier than anticipated, but players will not be penalized for remaining in U18 camp. Our coaches will also attend U18 evaluations to ensure we have the opportunity to see all players on numerous occasions.

We talk about hockey a lot around here (it is our job, after all). But as much as we love seeing our athletes on the ice, we also love seeing them enjoying everything else that comes with summer.

Whether they’ve been playing another sport, hitting the lake, travelling, biking, golfing, camping, working on the farm or just enjoying some downtime, we want to see it!
