INSAR Public Statement - International Society for Autism Research 09/26/2025

“Currently, the scientific evidence does not support changes to clinical guidelines on the use of acetaminophen in pregnancy, nor does it establish leucovorin as an effective treatment for autism. “

INSAR Public Statement - International Society for Autism Research As a global autism research society, we are concerned about recent public statements suggesting the use of acetaminophen (Tylenol) during pregnancy causes autism and that leucovorin (folinic acid) is a helpful treatment for autism. Such unproven claims have the potential to cause harm for autistic p...

This is not about sunburn.

It's about trying to desensitise our kids to distressing sensory input.

We don't desensitise.
We educate.
We accommodate.

Yes?

Healthy Relationships for Autistic People - Durham University 04/04/2024

New Autistic Guide to Healthy Relationships released. This guide was developed by interviewing autistic adults, and with input from autistic advocates and researchers.

Healthy Relationships for Autistic People - Durham University Many autistic people experience violence and abuse within close relationships. However, there is currently little understanding about what we can do to a) prevent this from happening, and b) provide better support for autistic people who have been abused.

Based on conversations I've had with young people.

If you hate being autistic, then fair enough- your autism, your choice.

But if you hate being autistic because "kids at school bully me for it", "teachers judge me", "family members disapprove of me" or "I can't hold down a job", then I think it's helpful to know... those bullies, teachers, family members and employers LOVE the fact that you're blaming your autism rather than them.
Chris Bonnello - Autistic Author

[Two stick figures talking to each other- conversation reads:
“I hate being autistic because everyone bullies me for it.”
“That sounds more like a problem with them than a problem with autism.”
“What difference does that make?”
“An important one. If autism were removed from your life, the bullies would just find something else to focus on – or someone else. It would transfer the problem, not solve it. But if the bullies were removed from your life, you’d be a step closer to being the happy autistic person you deserve to be.”
“...Are you sure I deserve it?”
“Damned right. And you’re not alone, sadly. There are loads of autistic people who have been taught to hate themselves. When a confident person tells us there’s something “wrong” with us, we often believe them just because they look confident. But it doesn’t mean they’re right.”]
