We believe reconciliation is every day, not just one day. A belated thank you to our friends at Under One Sky for sharing this beautiful moment, and a heartfelt congratulations on the opening of your new Friendship Centre. We are so glad to have been part of your journey. 🧡

Today, September 30, we pause to remember the children who were taken to residential schools, the children who never came home, and the Survivors who carry this history with them. We also hold space for their families and communities, who still live with the impact every day.

Unity Community Centre is located in Fredericton, on traditional Wolastoqey territory, along the Wolastoq. We are grateful to live, learn, and gather on this land.

We are proud to share our building with organizations led by members of the Indigenous community:

Reconciliation is not one day. It is a commitment we keep learning and acting on all year. Here are a few ways to take part today:

- Wear orange to show that Every Child Matters
- Listen to Survivors and Indigenous voices, and learn the history
- Take the free Indigenous Canada course from the University of Alberta
- Support Indigenous-led organizations and creators in our community

Fall migration is underway!

Join us to enjoy the beauty of the changing season while observing migratory birds on their journey south. As climate change continues to affect migration timing and routes, every observation helps us better understand these remarkable travellers.

☕🎨 New Class Alert: Hand-Build Your Own Coffee Pour-Over!

Calling all coffee lovers, this one's for you.

Join us on Saturday, October 3 for a pottery class where you'll hand-build your very own ceramic pour-over dripper, the perfect addition to your morning routine. Learn the basics of hand-building while creating a functional piece you'll use every day.

Still looking for a few hands to help us move the pottery studio!⚱️

We need volunteers to help with the move on Saturday and Sunday, Sept 19-20, 9am -12pm.

Big news: our pottery studio is moving to a new room 🏺

Saturday and Sunday, Sep 19-20, 9am-12pm, we're getting the new space ready, and we could use a few extra hands to move furniture, clean, and paint.

Bring some music, wear clothes you don't mind getting messy, and help us bring everything we've built into its new home.

For 10 years, Gray Babonau, has been working at the “Alexander Gibson Memorial Elementary School” Building. For a decade this centre has gone through a number of changes and ownership and Gray had been through it all, Gray’s work at the Unity Community Centre has been instrumental over the past 3 years in particular with all the rebuilding and upgrades we’ve been making to strengthen the amazing building and community.

Gray is always willing to lend a helping hand and keep up the centre with the endless “DYI” projects to help maintain this historical building.

Thank you to Gray and our community members for making it a great place to be!
