Forestry in the Field – Envirothon NB 2026
At Irishtown Nature Park, students tackled the Forestry Field Test —where real-world forest knowledge meets hands-on skill.
This wasn’t just a quiz… it was full-on fieldwork:
🌿 Identifying tree species & leaf structures
📏 Measuring tree height, diameter & basal area
🧭 Using forestry tools like a wedge prism
🌎 Understanding ecosystem services & forest management
🔥 Exploring wildfire science, insects, and forest health
🌱 Learning succession, silviculture & sustainable practices
This is Envirothon—getting outside, thinking critically, and understanding how our forests work and why they matter.
All year long, students prepare through Envirothon school clubs, workshops, and hands-on training—building skills that connect directly to real careers in forestry and environmental management.
