The 203 Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity is a student-led resource centre that focuses on information sharing, education and advocacy by providing a safe, supportive, and inviting space for 2SLGBTQIA+ identifying students, faculty & staff. The 203 is a 2SLGBTQIA+ dedicated space to study, to socialize, and a resource for 2SLGBTQIA+ related information & support from peers.

The ideal candidate will work with The 203 Board of Directors:

- to develop and implement a communications strategy for The 203, including on-campus and off-campus communications
- to design and implement a social media strategy for The 203
- to identify and develop relationships with 2SLGBTQIA+ and related organizations on-campus and in the surrounding community
- to work with The 203 chair to promote events
- and, when necessary, will support The 203 in managing the regular operations of The 203

Intimate partner abuse (IPA) occurs in sexual and gender minority communities at rates comparable to, and in many cases in excess of, those in cisgender heterosexual communities, with most demographic groups showing rates of experiencing physical and sexual violence in excess of 50%. Despite this, formalized prevention and response services often exclude 2S/LGBTQ+ communities from accessing support. This session will highlight results from a recent systematic review including what we learned about help-seeking experiences, conceptualizations of intimate partnerships, and implications for IPA research methods.

About the Speakers

Zack Marshall (he/him) is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. With transdisciplinary training in psychology, social work, and community health, Zack is passionate about how we can leverage research for transformative social change. His current projects focus on meta-science or research on research, evidence synthesis, and the ethics of research with individuals and communities who experience structural oppression.

Noah Ulicki (he/him) is a research assistant at the University of Calgary. He is currently pursuing his MSc in Disability Studies, Rights and Inclusion at the University of Leeds. His research addresses community-identified needs in both the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and the disability community, with an emphasis on intersectionality.

1. SNAP facilitator/Community intervener in Shediac full time.

Pay: CA$20.00-CA$25.00 per hour

Job description:

Title: Child and youth facilitator / Community Intervener the Courage Centre inc.

Location: Shediac

Role: As the child and youth intervener, you will work with your team members to deliver the evidence-based SNAP program for children and parents in the Shediac region as well as provide support to children and youth clients of the Courage Centre. If you want to make a lasting difference in the lives of families in your community, this is the position for you!

Number of positions: 1, Full-Time

Qualifications:

· A University degree or college diploma in Social sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Care or a related discipline.
-Exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing in both official languages (French and English) is mandatory.

· Experience working with children, adolescents, families and groups, and familiarity with associated systems (schools, community agencies) would be an asset.

· Strong organizational skills and details oriented.

· Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and videoconferencing systems, such as Zoom, Webex and\or Microsoft Teams.

· Ability to work in a highly distractible environment, to multitask and be sensitive to the uniqueness and demands of a non-profit agency.

· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

· Ability to work in a respectful manner with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Current and valid Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Must be legally able to work in Canada.
Key Responsibilities:

· Delivers children’s mental health group interventions and one on one interventions

· Facilitates group programs for children and parents

· Actively participates in case management process for clients including case management activities and case review meetings

· Maintain client records

· May provide supervision to interns, students and/or volunteer

Some travel to other cities for group delivery
