NIHB covers gender-affirming items (e.g., binders, packers, etc.) for eligible NIHB clients.

How to Access?
NIHB-enrolled clients need a valid prescription or recommendation to be eligible, but the list of eligible providers has expanded to include more mental health professionals, including RSW professionals across the country.

Clients can pay for gender-affirming items up front and be reimbursed or check with their local pharmacy about filling prescriptions.

You can now order directly from urBasics, a Canada-based company that bills NIHB directly, so clients can order without paying up front!

Wolastoqey Youth Athlete Sponsorship — Applications Now Open!

We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for the next round of our Wolastoqey Youth Athlete Sponsorship Program until September 24th 2026.

Eligibility:
⚾️ Be a Wolastoqey youth or parent of (18 years or under) with status or a status-holding parent.
🏀Be actively (going to be in the fall) participating in an organized sport or activity (see Appendix A for eligible activities).
🏸Have expenses that align with the approved funding categories

The program is reimbursement-based, and successful applicants can receive up to $500 toward eligible athletic expenses.

Overview:
Reporting to the Health Services Director, the Sport and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating inclusive sport, recreation and other wellness programs for members. The coordinator will coordinate programming that enhances the physical, mental, emotional, social and cultural well-being of members of all ages. This role works collaboratively with members, Elders and Knowledge Keepers, partners, service providers and other WTCI departments to create accessible programming that reflect community priorities and promotion of lifelong wellness.
The Sport and Wellness Coordinator will coordinate and support initiatives including Learn to Play/Skate, Wolastoqey Sport Sponsorship program, harm reduction, healthy living, and seasonal cultural programming.

Job Responsibilities:

The Sport and Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

•Plan and coordinate sport, recreation, and wellness programs for community members of all ages
•Promote wellness and healthy living by developing inclusive programming that supports physical, mental, social, emotional and cultural well-being
•Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, member communities, and partner organizations to identify needs and enhance program delivery
•Collaborate with relevant WTCI services and departments
•Coordinate community activities, events and workshops that encourage participation, healthy lifestyles and cultural engagement.
•Ensure programming is delivered in safe, respectful and culturally appropriate manner and in accordance with organizational policies.
•Research and identify funding opportunities related to sport and wellness programs
•Develop communication materials such as posters, handouts, social media content, and resource packets
•Coordinate established WTCI programs and events including Jays Care, Learn to Play Hockey/Skate, seasonal cultural programs
•Manage the Wolastoqey Sports Sponsorship program
•Participate in community engagement events
•Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Health Services Director.

Job Requirements:
•Experience working within Wolastoqey communities, culture, language and traditions is an asset.
•Experience coordinating programs, events, sport and recreation activities, cultural activities.
•Ability to build positive relationships with community and partner organizations.
•Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
•Experience in managing budgets and reporting is an asset.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with design or communication tools is an asset.
•Ability to work flexible. This position includes evening and weekend work.

Position Overview:
WTCI’s Education Team supports children, youth and caregivers through a holistic integrated service delivery model called Wasisok Tomk (Kids First). Through our holistic approach we honour the whole person, including their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs, while celebrating their strengths and differences. This approach recognizes that all aspects of a person’s life are interconnected and supports them in living a balanced life.

We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team. Reporting to the Director of Lifelong Learning, you will play a key role in supporting children, youth, and caregivers through culturally responsive, evidence-based occupational therapy services across school, home, and community environments.

Key Responsibilities:
As a WTCI Education Occupational Therapist, you will:
•Provide assessments and interventions in a variety of settings including homes, schools, and community programs.
•Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community-based service providers.
•Build capacity in caregivers and educators to support the development of children and youth.
•Conduct both standardized and non-standardized assessments.
•Prepare and maintain documentation including chart notes and client reports.
•Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and discretion.
•Contribute to culturally safe, trauma-informed care plans tailored to individual needs.
•Embrace ongoing professional learning and contribute to a culture of continuous growth.
•Other duties that support team and organization initiatives.

Qualifications:
•Undergraduate or master’s degree in occupational therapy
•Registered and in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists (NBAOT) and Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
•Understanding of, and willingness to learn about, Wolastoqey culture, history, and language, with a commitment to culturally appropriate, holistic and trauma-informed practices.
•Experience supporting developmental challenges, behavioural needs, or neurodiverse diagnoses children and youth.
•Self-motivated and ability to work independently, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills when supporting and working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
•Ability to work collaboratively with community members and professionals within Indigenous and non-Indigenous settings.
•Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
•Valid driver’s license, registered vehicle, and insurance
•Completed Policy 701 training
•Valid First Aid & CPR certification
•Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team

In 2020, KTMF conducted an environmental scan that revealed a significant gap: limited awareness of available cancer programs and survivorship services. In response, we have partnered with community organizations to develop this webinar series, which will highlight regional and online cancer resources. This series is designed for health centre staff, community members, and anyone interested in learning more about cancer survivorship support.

Join us for a Wolastoqey youth land-based harm reduction summer camp for ages 8-12, on Monday August 17th, 2026 and ages 13-17 on Tuesday August 18th, 2026.

Youth will have a fun-filled day learning all about healthy relationships, what positive friendship looks like, how to be kind to others, honouring our bodies, boundaries and consent and more!

The morning will consist of teachings and activities on these topics, followed by an introductory level sweat lodge ceremony and teachings in the afternoon, specifically tailored to younger youth. There will be other activities available for youth who are not comfortable or do not want to participate in the sweat.

Lunch and snacks will be provided and travel expenses can be covered. There is a maximum registration of 25 youth.

Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Health Lead, the Health Services Manager is responsible for the effective management and coordination of WTCI’s health programs and services. This role ensures that health programs are delivered efficiently, meet reporting and funding requirements, and progress WTCI’s health priorities. The Health Services Manager supervises health staff, supports program planning, and ensures that community engagement, administrative, and financial functions are carried out smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Health Lead, the Health Services Manager will be responsible for the following:

Management and Supervision
•Supervise and coach WTCI’s health services staff to ensure effective program delivery and professional development.
•Manage health team work plans and coordinate priorities across programs.
•Foster teamwork, collaboration, and mutual accountability among staff and partners.
•Promote an inclusive, respectful, and culturally grounded work environment.
•Participate in organizational leadership meetings and represent health services in internal forums.

Program and Operations Management
•Oversee all health program areas.
•Develop and manage operational plans and schedules, ensuring work aligns with community health priorities.
•Coordinate program logistics, such as community visits, the Nurses Practice group, and powwow trail participation.
•Monitor program budgets and expenditures and support the preparation of annual reports to funders.
•Maintain records, databases, and administrative systems to ensure accountability and transparency.

Internal Partnerships and Coordination
•Collaborate with WTCI Tribal Council staff to coordinate interdepartmental initiatives and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
•Support communication between health staff, the Health Lead, and other departments.
•Assist in coordinating consultants and contractors who support program implementation.

Community Relations
•Build respectful relationships with community members and leaders, promoting community involvement in health initiatives.
•Promote effective communication of health programs and services available to Wolastoqey community members.
•Encourage Knowledge Carrier involvement and traditional knowledge in health activities.
•Represent WTCI’s health services in meetings or committees as assigned by the Health Lead or Nihkanatpat (Executive Director).

Funding and Reporting
•Assist staff and communities with funding proposal development and reporting.
•Track and summarize program performance for internal reporting and funding renewal.
•Prepare annual and ad hoc reports on health operations for leadership and communities.

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Indigenous studies, public health, public administration, or a related field.
•Minimum 2 years of management experience, preferably within Indigenous organizations, healthcare, government, or the non-profit sector.
•Demonstrated experience managing teams, programs, budgets, and organizational priorities.
•Strong understanding of Indigenous health, community health services, and the health system.
•Knowledge of Wolastoqey language, culture, governance, and communities is considered a strong asset.
•Strong understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and kinship systems.
