Discover the basics of American Sign Language at this interactive, inclusive workshop! Whether you’re new to ASL or looking to practice, you’ll learn the alphabet, greetings, and everyday phrases, then put your skills to the test with a fun round of Sign Language Bingo. We’ve also invited a representative from NBDHHS to present their organization’s mission and services. Stick around for a Q&A session and additional resources to help you continue your ASL journey. Everyone is welcome!

At the All Abilities Club, we believe in putting people first! Person-First Language reminds us that everyone is more than a label. By saying “person with a disability” instead of “disabled person,” we acknowledge the individual beyond their disability, emphasizing abilities, respect, and humanity. 💙

Together, let’s continue to create a welcoming space where everyone feels valued for who they are. Small changes in language can make a big difference!

We are having a movie night on November 15th hosted by UNB All Abilities Club’s Movie Night event, which will feature the film The Intouchables. Here’s the event information:

May is Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders Awareness Month.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes are a group of 13 heritable disorders that affect the body's connective tissues including the skin, joints, blood vessels, digestive system, and many other organs and tissues. EDS is categorized by looseness, the instability and dislocations of the joins, fragile skin and often hyper-elastic skin that bruises, scares and tears easily as well as unpredictable, arterial and organ rupture causing acute, excessive internal bleeding, shock, stroke and premature death.

Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders are diagnosed when the musculoskeletal complications of join hypermobility and joint instability arise in a person who does not have the fedining features of EDS.

EDS and HSD are frequently misdiagnosed or undiagnosed.

Early and accurate diagnosis provides the opportunity to create medical plans that improve quality of life. Further medical research and awareness can bring hope for treatment and a cute. This month is an opportunity to further educate the public and medical community in recognizing the signs and symptoms of these conditions.
