I know this is late but if the age old adage is true…it’s better late than never right? For our Orange Shirt day and the days that lead up to it, we focused on what it means to hold someone up. We took a close look at Monique Gray Smith’s book and all the things she mentions lift her character up. We then talked about how we feel when people life us up. It was a great discussion and surprisingly deep for a K/1 class.

When L.A., Math, and Social Studies work together, good things happen! Oh and of course I love that we practiced our fine motor skills too!

My students had to do one of my favourite beginning of year activities without me last Friday. However, the substitute teacher did an amazing job and the students’ finger puppets turned out adorably cute! 🤗🐭

Best teacher water bottle EVER! All 2.2L kept me hydrated today. It was such an improvement from last year’s 20 oz that would run out before lunch and then would always slip my mined to refill until it was too late!

For the first day of school, students go to there last year’s teacher. I knew many of my students would be worrying about their new teacher and the possibility of being separated from their friends tomorrow so we created our own worry stones! Thanks for the wonderful idea! They turned out so well.

My classroom is my second home. On a good week, I spend about 45hrs there and during classroom set up, take down weeks and PT meetings…🫣 well…I would rather not say it out loud. 😬 Therefore, I make it as magical and inviting as possible for both me and my students.

My modified Super Improver wall is ready to go! (I just have to sharpie in the star points for Kangaroo and Panda) I flipped them because in reality, Panda’s aren’t faster than Kangaroos.
