Summer Office Hours - July/Aug 2026

Please note that the school office will be closed for Canada Day, and for summer closure from Thursday, July 2, through Monday, August 31.
We look forward to welcoming students in Grades 1–6 back to school on Tuesday, September 8. On the first day, classes will run from 8:45 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Full-day classes for students in Grades 1–6 will begin on Wednesday, September 9.
Kindergarten students will begin the new school year with a gradual entry process to help ensure a smooth and comfortable transition into the classroom. Kindergarten teachers will contact families on Tuesday, September 8, to review each child's schedule and answer any questions. Full-day Kindergarten will begin on Wednesday, September 16.
Over the summer, we encourage families to continue to monitor your email and to follow the school's page for the latest news and information.

Margaret 'Ma' Murray Community School
Margaret 'Ma' Murray Community School is a K-6 Elementary school with community gym and daycare facilities in SD60.
Margaret 'Ma' Murray was a pioneering newswoman in Fort St John. Murray founded the Alaska Highway News in the 1940s.Construction will begin on the school during the summer of 2016.The school will serve a K-6 population of around 365 students when open. It will include a public Gathering Centre named for Bella Yahey, a First Nations signatory to Treaty 8. The school will also include a secondary s

POD 3 had a fantastic safety presentation with Constable Kopf from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police! Students learned important bike and crosswalk safety tips, cycling rules, and how to stay safe while travelling around our community. Thank you for a great visit!

Our team competed in the Elementary Slo-Pitch tournament today and represented our school with respect. The players demonstrated excellent teamwork, strong effort, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.

Today, we welcomed Candy Bones Theatre to MMMCS for their performance, Oopsie!
Exploring the question, “Is it okay to make a mistake?”, award-winning performer Candice Roberts combines physical theatre, music, masks, puppetry, clowning, and dance to create engaging stories that celebrate the humour, challenges, and resilience of being human. A group of our amazing staff came out this past weekend to support the 11th Annual Vertical Slam Ultimate Challenge, helping support school food programs and ensuring students have access to the nutrition they need to learn and thrive.

On Friday, MMMCS hosted the annual District Track & Field Meet. A big thank you to our athletes for their outstanding effort and sportsmanship, as well as to our coaches and staff for everything they did to make the day a tremendous success.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors, Alberta Gold Energy & Rentals and Peace Country Rentals, for their generous support of this event. Their contributions helped make the day possible and greatly appreciated.
