What an incredible day we had with our families here at the centre for our year end celebration. An incredibly big thank you to those that brought in the wonderful food for our luncheon. We couldn't be more pleased with how the day turned out. So much positive energy!

Thanks to everyone for filling out the year end celebration permission slips and RSVP's and signing up for the potluck luncheon items.
This week we discussed the upcoming party on the 24th and what the children can expect to happen in the day. We talked about kindergarten and that some of our friends will be leaving and others staying.
Next week will be fairly unstructured as we are hoping to have fun and just enjoy our last week together. If weather permits we will bring the large parachute out, as well as other outdoor activities.

Our family year end celebration is Monday June 24th 11 to 1pm.

Potluck sign up sheet is in coat roam by classroom entrance. We will have certificates and a small gift for each preschooler, as well as a slide show presentation highlighting the years activities.
The children have been working on a song that we will do for everyone as well.

We really hope to have all our preschoolers there as its a wonderful time to say goodbye to those going to kindergarten and to wish those that are returning for their second year a great summer.
This is a great opportunity to meet your child's classmates and exchange numbers to make summer playdates.

A permission slip for the slideshow and an RSVP for the event has been put in everyone's mail cubby.

This is not a drop off day. An adult must accompany the preschooler through entire event. All family and siblings are welcome to attend.

This week at Keeginaw Preschool we enjoyed more insect identification. We enjoyed several renditions of the “Hungry Caterpillar” story, including a felt version. The children enjoyed listening to the story and waiting for their turn to place the felt pieces on the board. We played more Insect Bingo- the children sit, listen and look at the teachers, and then scan their Bingo cards for the matching insect (some can be tricky like the wasp vs the bee).
Stuffy/Teddybear days were a lot of fun. The children ensured their stuffies followed the class rules, playing nicely with the other children and their stuffies.
We also talked about camping as many families are away for the long weekend. How do we camp (tent/trailer/vehicle). Fire safety, walking in the woods, playing by/in water (always with a grownup!).
Today we had Alyssa (from our afterschool program) in the classroom. She brought in some real live caterpillars for the children to have a close look at. For many this was the first time they have ever seen one. We can’t wait till they are butterflies!

Stuffy/Teddy Bear Day

This week at Keeginaw Preschool the children finished up their Mothers Day projects. They were so thrilled that their little tomatoe seeds had sprouted!
We continued our theme of bugs/insects. We had many table activities involving identification, counting, and sorting of bugs. We have been lucky with the weather and have enjoyed outside time with chalk and searching for ants, spiders, and other insects.
We enjoyed bug bingo and table activities focusing on numbers 1-20 and ABC’s.
Itsy Bitsy spider story book and song was enjoyed this week.
We are introducing the concepts of yesterday, today, and tomorrow at circle/calendar time.

Professional Development Day

At Keeginaw Preschool we value your time. Parents are never required to commit to volunteer hours or do extensive fundraising.

This week at Keeginaw Preschool our activities incorporated bugs/insects.
We started identifying them and discussed being friendly and playing safely if we see them.
We were able to view and touch an old wasp nest and talk about not touching one if we find any outside.
We did roller sponge painting, many bug/insect matching games, sequencing and several early literacy activities. We have also been working on a special art project for a special person in our lives.
We had a firedrill this week. Our letter is “Vv”.
