Yesterday, the heartbreaking news came that Parker, the young boy missing in Calgary, was found and had sadly passed. It is unbelievably sad to hear as a parent and as a service provider. We know many of our families have experienced the terror of a child eloping or even just hiding in the house or in a store.

It was so touching to see how so many people helped search, but more touching was the little comfort items set out in hopes to draw Parker home. Stuffed animals, water bottles, snacks & Disney music playing (his favourite).

Hold his parents in your thoughts and keep in mind what we as a community can do to help in similar situations.

Get to know your neighbours. Ask what you can do if you see their child on the street alone. Ask how you can help. Parents consider letting our local RCMP know about your child and their higher risk of elopement. All children are incredibly fast when they want to run.

🩵 Rest In Peace Parker 🕊️
