Treaty Education Alliance Staff visited the Grade 6-12 students at White Bear Education Complex for the afternoon of Thursday, February 5, 2026. As a part of the mandate, TEA performs a student engagement session where students will be asked specific questions that will help shape their education moving forward. Students were asked to answer the following questions:

1. What does the Treaty Right to Education mean to you?
2. What are the most important things you should be learning at school?
3. What do you like about your school?
4. What are some things you don't like about your school?
5. If you could create the world's best school, what would it look like?

The afternoon began with an introductory presentation by TEA Executive Director, Faith Watson, which was focused on bullying and treating fellow classmates with respect and kindness. Students were then put into 5 groups to answer the 5 questions on chart paper.

They were all provided with a snack and then took their seats to take in a presentation from TEA Communications Coordinator, Aaron Tootoosis, who presented "What is Treaty 4?". The presentation provided students with detailed information about what Treaty 4 is all about, while also empowering the students with their roles and responsibilities being the next generations to one day run and fight for the rights of White Bear and Treaty 4 Territory.

Some lucky students went home with some awesome door prizes.

The students were such great participants and were at the best behaviour and were so respectful throughout the session. They all helped bring chairs and tables out, and also helped putting everything away. Such awesome youth leaders in White Bear First Nations!

Looks like we will have very nice weather and roads tomorrow. It'll be a good evening for community engagement. We will have KFC and healthy alternatives for everyone to eat. See you all there!

Join us for a Community Engagement Session on February 3, 2026 at the school gym starting at 5:00 pm. We will be serving KFC and will have great discussion regarding education. All Cote First Nation Band Members are welcome. See you there!!

***Community Engagement Postponed**

Due to the wind advisory suggesting that there will be 100 km/h wind gusts as evening approaches, it was decided that the Community Engagement session will be postponed to another date. Our apologies once again. Stay safe everyone.

We had a really good time last night (January 13) at the Community Engagement Session in White Bear First Nations. Thank you for all those that showed up, we understand that everyone had to attend other things, however we would still like to have all White Bear Band Membership take part in the survey as there are some important questions that have been asked. Ask Jessie Littlechief or Councilor Sheri for the QR code to do the survey. Thank you to the Cooks and the WBEC students who helped prepare and serve the great meal, it was so awesome!

The new date has been confirmed and Treaty Education Alliance will be hosting the Community Engagement Session at White Bear First Nations on January 13, 2026. Please see the following poster for all information. We hope to see all Band Membership there as it was so well-attended at the last one. There were some deadly prizes and food and will be looking forward to all that coming up soon. We will see you all there!
