On June 12, FNSS Athletics wrapped up another incredible year by celebrating our student-athletes at the 2026 Sports Banquet. It was a wonderful evening filled with great food, laughter and recognition of the hard work, dedication, sportsmanship and achievements of our athletes throughout the year. A very special thank you to Steve and Betty Wilson for preparing a delicious meal for everyone in attendance, and congratulations to all our award recipients. To our graduating athletes, your time at FNSS may be ending, but your opportunity to make a lasting impact on the world is only just beginning. Remember, once a Husky, always a Husky!

On Thursday June 4th a group of students from RLA and FNSS went to Prophet River for the day to participate in a Youth Hand Games Tournament as a part of Treaty Days. The competition was fierce, but in the end The Hand Game Hawks came out on top!

Along with Hand Games there were many different activities including language bingo, jig dancing, and fish processing!

A huge shout out and thank you to Prophet River for hosting such an incredible day full of community and culture! Mussi!

Y.E.T.I. - Youth Employment and Training Initiative | MNBC 06/05/2026

The Ministry of Youth at Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) is excited to introduce the Youth Employment & Training Initiative (Y.E.T.I.), a virtual summer program that supports Métis youth age 16 - 25 in exploring career and post-secondary pathways, developing career readiness skills, and building confidence for their future.

While employment readiness is a key component, Y.E.T.I. is much more than a job search program. It’s an interactive learning opportunity to support youth who want to:
- Explore their strengths, skills, values, and interests
- Learn about career and post-secondary pathways
- Build confidence and self-awareness
- Develop practical skills for career readiness, networking, interviews, and résumé building
- Connect with other Métis youth across British Columbia
- Participate in interactive workshops, coaching sessions, cultural learning opportunities, and guided career exploration activities

The program is particularly well-suited for students who are beginning to think about their future, preparing for post-secondary education, seeking part-time employment, or exploring potential career options.

Participants who successfully complete the program will also receive a stipend of $50 per day (up to $650 total) based on attendance and program completion.

Dates: July 13–29, 2026
Location: Online (Zoom)
Eligibility: MNBC Citizens, ages 16–25 (participants up to age 30 are also welcome to apply)
Program Length: 2.5 weeks (70 total program hours)
