🧠 McTavish Mental Health Moment
Anxiety is a normal and important part of how our brain keeps us safe. Everyone experiences it at times — before a test, trying something new, or facing something uncertain.
The challenge is how we respond to it. When we avoid the things that make us anxious, we might feel better in the moment, but our brain learns that the situation is something to fear. Over time, this can make anxiety feel stronger and happen more often.
Taking small, manageable steps toward what makes us anxious helps the brain learn something new:
“This is uncomfortable, but I can handle it.”
With practice and support, anxiety becomes easier to manage.
