The children enjoyed an exciting Ant Hunt sensory invitation, searching for ants hidden in the sand while exploring a variety of natural materials. They sorted and counted the ants and ladybugs, then carefully placed them into the wire cages to “trap” them as part of their imaginative play. As they dug, scooped, and explored the different textures of the sand, rocks, and leaves.

FLIGHT Connection: Through this Ant Hunt invitation, the children demonstrated Play and Playfulness and Seeking as they explored, investigated, sorted, counted, and shared their discoveries. Their curiosity and imaginative play supported meaningful learning while building early mathematical thinking, communication, and a deeper connection to the natural world.

Fizzing Under the Sea

The children dove into a magical underwater adventure as they explored a fizzing ocean sensory invitation. Using droppers, they carefully added colored vinegar to the baking soda “ocean,” creating exciting bubbles and fizzy eruptions around coral reefs, treasure chests, sea plants, and ocean creatures. They observed how the colors mixed, watched the reactions spread through the underwater world, and eagerly experimented with different amounts of liquid. They also tried making “snowballs,” exploring the texture with their hands and discussing whether they felt hot or cold. This hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, scientific thinking, sensory exploration, and imaginative play as the children discovered the wonders hidden beneath the sea.
Note: The children added some animals based on their own interests.

A visit to Helen Pocholko Park
Today we had a very special adventure as we traveled to Helen Pacholko Park. Everyone was excited to ride the bus, and for some of the children, it was their very first bus ride! When we arrived, the children eagerly explored everything the park had to offer. They climbed the large trees, building confidence and balance. We visited a beautiful garden surrounded by colorful flowers, where the children carefully observed nature. Along the way, we spotted a bird and worked together to identify it. Some of the children thought it was a woodpecker, which sparked wonderful conversations about birds. Our Consultant met us at the park and joined us as we explored the community vegetable garden. The children enjoyed naming different plants and vegetables with her.Afterward, they dug, built, and created in the sandbox, rode bikes, and enjoyed active games of running, throwing, and catching the ball. We also shared a picnic snacks under the shade of the trees, enjoying good food, laughter, and time together.

Fairy Garden Adventure
During our park visit, we explored the fairy garden in the woods alongside children from the other dayhomes. The children enjoyed walking the trails, discovering tiny fairy/birds houses, and observing nature together. They also expressed their creativity by drawing with chalk in the chess park, creating colorful designs and sharing ideas with one another. This adventure encouraged curiosity, imagination, social connections, and an appreciation for the natural environment.

Wonderful Worm World
The children explored a worm-themed sensory invitation using soil, flowers, rocks, vegetables, and toy worms. They carefully observed the worms, created homes for them, and talked about where worms live and what they need to survive. Through hands-on exploration, the children strengthened their curiosity about nature while developing their fine motor skills, creativity, and understanding of the natural world.

Little Ocean Explorers 🌊

Because it was pouring outside, we brought our Ocean Adventure indoors! The children explored an ocean-themed sensory invitation filled with water, boats, sea creatures, rocks, and loose parts. They used their imaginations to create underwater worlds, sail boats, and discover marine life while engaging in collaborative, hands-on sensory play.
